Anne Hathaway has been named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman, appearing as the May cover star.
In the accompanying interview, the 43-year-old actress – who recently thwarted plastic surgery accusations – opened up about movies, marriage, and her perspective on beauty.
‘A filmmaker once told me this: Beauty can contain within it ugliness as long as it contains truth. So for me beauty always falls along those lines,’ she answered when asked how she defines what’s beautiful.
The silver screen siren also discussed how she stays in shape, shouting out her personal trainer.
‘I love working out with Monique Eastwood,’ she gushed. ‘She’s a genius. She’s a former ballerina, so she’s put together ballet, HIIT, Pilates, yoga.’
The mother-of-two added, ‘And I’m really lucky I get to have private sessions with her. We’ve been working together for over four years, and she’s just kind of changed everything and made it better.’

She shares sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, six, with husband Adam Shulman, 45.
‘I know that not everybody who wants to be a parent gets to be. I’m just blown away by how fortunate I am.
‘It went really well for me twice, and that’s really lucky,’ she acknowledged about her pregnancies.
Hathaway also credited her husband, whom she wed in 2012, with holding down the fort while she works.
‘I’m so lucky that he’s my partner that I spend my life with. If I didn’t know that before this past year, I think I really know it now because with absolutely everything he’s just, he’s on it. He holds it down,’ she effused.
Elsewhere in the cover story, she admitted she did not like the focus placed on her body when she played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.
The actress portrayed the sexy comic book character in the 2012 film from Christopher Nolan, starring opposite Christian Bale.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 star said the attention only bothered her when the conversation was about her weight, rather than her strength.

‘I didn’t like that the way into the question was, “How much weight did you have to lose?” And not, “How strong did you have to get in order to play that part?”’ she expressed.
She explained, ‘I felt protective about it because [director Christopher Nolan] specifically sat me down and said, “I don’t care about you losing weight, but I want you to be able to do all your own stunts.”’
Hathaway also noted that she learned to do her own stunts, like flipping backwards out of a window, with ‘a lot of practice on a very high platform.’
The longtime entertainer has five films hitting theaters this year, including the musical-drama Mother Mary, which came out last week.
She plays the movie’s titular pop star, who ‘reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm, on the eve of her comeback performance,’ per IMDb.
Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Kaia Gerber, Atheena Frizzell, Jessica Brown Findlay, FKA Twigs and Alba Baptista also star.
Hathaway recently told Stephen Colbert that Swift was an inspiration for the project, as director David Lowry is a big fan of the Grammy winner.
‘I mean, she was kind of like an angel that I felt like was over our heads all the time,’ she told the late night host.
‘And I was influenced by her tour film Miss Americana and how vulnerable she just let herself be,’ the actress added.
