“Back to the Future” star Matt Clark has died. He was 89.
The actor, known for his role as the bartender in the third movie of the trilogy, passed away due to complications of back surgery at his Austin, Texas, home on Sunday, his family told TMZ.
Clark’s family shared that he valued working alongside people who loved their families and wasn’t concerned with the fame of the entertainment industry.
The “Jeremiah Johnson” star felt “lucky” to work in a career field that he loved and respected.
According to his family, “he died the way he lived, on his terms.”
Clark starred alongside Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doctor Emmett Brown in the 1990 film “Back to the Future: Part III.”
Clark and Fox’s characters cross paths at a bar when the latter travels to the Old West in 1885 and attempts to save Lloyd from being killed.
The director’s other well-known roles include the 1984 W.D. Richter film, “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension,” and the 1976 Clint Eastwood movie, “The Outlaw Josey Wales.”
Additionally, he starred in the 1972 film, “Jeremiah Johnson,” and the 2014 movie, “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”
