Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is admitting why the team lost to the Chicago Bears in such a lopsided game.
The Buffalo Bills’ 2024 season ended the same way most of them have the last five years, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. Since the 2020 season, Buffalo has lost to Kansas City in the January playoffs four times in the last five years. The Chiefs have appeared in four Super Bowls, winning two of them in that span.
If the Bills were able to pull off two wins over the Chiefs the last five years, then they might’ve held the Lombardi Trophy one time. Buffalo’s primary goal for this season is to reach the Super Bowl, and the team has made significant efforts in the offseason to achieve this.
Buffalo Added Help This Offseason
Buffalo added free agent pass rusher Joey Bosa and wide receiver Josh Palmer. The team also agreed to a new contract with running back James Cook, which will keep him in Buffalo for the foreseeable future.
The Bills are lucky to have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Josh Allen. But he will turn 30 next year, meaning he could be entering the final seasons of his prime. The time to win the Super Bowl is now. There are a few teams in the same position as the Bills, trying to win it all, including the Baltimore Ravens, who will head to Orchard Park for Sunday Night Football in Week 1.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is just like Allen, winning league MVPs, but has no Super Bowl appearance to show for it. One will try to get over their postseason struggles this season. While both teams want to reach the Super Bowl, the Bills need it more than the Ravens. Jackson might never have won a Super Bowl, but the franchise has won two since it became a team in 1996. Buffalo has gotten to the game four times, losing all of them.
Bills Under Most Pressure to Win Super Bowl
Wynston Wilcox from Fansided has the Bills as one of his teams with the most pressure to win the Super Bowl this season.
“Josh Allen is teetering into the same territory as Lamar Jackson. Allen secured his first MVP award last year. Winning league MVP is one thing, but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t back it up with a Super Bowl appearance. The Buffalo Bills have come up short to the Kansas City Chiefs seemingly every season in the playoffs since Allen’s turned them around,” Wilcox wrote. “The Chiefs have been running the AFC each of the last three seasons and don’t look like they’ll be stopped. The Bills have to find a way to win, even better if they do it and take out Lamar Jackson in the process. Either way, Allen has reached the pinnacle of the NFL, but he still lacks a championship. The Bills haven’t won a championship since the merger and went through a four-year period of losing four-straight Super Bowls.”
“If there’s anybody that will end the streak, it’s Allen, and if there’s any year to do it, it’s 2025. It won’t be easy. Last year, the Bills once again came up short; they won’t be able to get away with another close call in 2025,” Wilcox added.
There’s a feeling around the NFL that this season, the Chiefs won’t make it to the Super Bowl, so there’s a good chance the Bills or Ravens will do so. Hopefully, Buffalo is the team in this case.
