The Blue Jays broke some big viewership records.

The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t win the World Series, but they won over the hearts of many Canadians on their 2025 postseason run. Although they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games, they forced the reigning champions to go the distance.

Trey Yesavage made headlines for his performances and his paycheque, Addison Barger had a record-breaking Grand Slam in Game 1, and Ernie Clement broke a record for hits during the postseason. While none of these things will replace the feeling of winning a championship, they are a nice consolation prize.

According to a new report, the viewership for the 2025 World Series was off the charts. It was so popular that it became one of the most-watched broadcasts in Canadian history.

2025 World Series Draws Record Viewership

On Monday, Rogers released the viewership report for the 2025 World Series between the Blue Jays and Dodgers. To the surprise of no one, millions of people in Canada tuned in to watch the only MLB team situated north of the USA.

Unsurprisingly, Game 7 was the most-watched of the entire World Series.

“An average audience of 10.9 million viewers watched Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers on Sportsnet, Sportsnet+ and Citytv,” said the report, published on November 3, 2025. “Making it the most-watched Rogers broadcast ever. It also becomes the most-watched English-language broadcast on record in Canada outside of the 2010 Winter Olympics.”

To make the record even more impressive, nearly 50 percent of Canada’s population tuned in to Game 7 in some capacity:

“Overall, 18.5 million Canadian viewers, 45% of Canada’s population, watched some or all of Game 7.”

Blue Jays Are Canada’s Team

Aside from being one of the most-viewed events in Canada, the seven games played in the World Series are now the most-viewed Blue Jays games of all time.

“The entire World Series averaged 7.5 million viewers, with 23 million Canadians tuning in at some point,” the report said. “The seven World Series broadcasts were the seven most-watched Blue Jays games ever.”

While Game 7 holds the highest average viewership, Game 3 had the lowest viewership (5.8 million). Game 6 had the second-highest viewership, with 9.4 million. Games 2, 4, & 5 drew an average of 6.2 to 7.2 million viewers.

New fans were eager to enjoy pregame and postgame analysis and commentary. The report shared numbers that support this claim.

“Fans tuned in early and stayed late even after extra innings,” Rogers wrote. “With an average of 2.3 million watching Sportsnet’s Blue Jays Central pregame, and an average of 1.2 million staying tuned in to postgame.”

“Overall, the MLB Postseason on Sportsnet averaged 2.5 million viewers and reached 24.8 million unique Canadians.”

The Most-Viewed Blue Jays Moment of the World Series

The report revealed the most-viewed moment of the series.

“Average audience peaked at 14 million around 11:38 p.m. ET,” Rogers revealed. “When Ernie Clement came to bat with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the 9th inning.”

Canada was watching, waiting to see if the Blue Jays could break a 32-year championship-less streak. Unfortunately, for the Blue Jays (and the rest of Canada), it will be at least another year before they can get another crack at the can.
