Jerry Jeudy sends clear message to Dillon Gabriel

The Cleveland Browns dropped to 2-7 on the season with a disappointing loss to the New York Jets.

In the loss, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel struggled once again. Although he did struggle at times, Browns star receiver Jerry Jeudy has full confidence in the rookie quarterback.

“I think Dillon’s constantly growing each game,” Jeudy said. “Each game he has, I feel like he’s just getting better and better and all a quarterback needs is opportunities and consistency, so him being out there and just getting more reps is going to give him more confidence and I see Dillon consistently growing each week.”

Gabriel finished the game going 17-for-32 for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was a subpar performance from the rookie, but Jeudy is still showing faith in him.

Jeudy, meanwhile, led the team in receiving as he recorded 6 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.

“They did a good job of getting me going,” Jeudy said. “(The early receptions) kept me locked in and brought me confidence, feeling like I was in the game.”

The Browns will host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in Week 11 NFL action.

Browns Remaining With Gabriel at QB

Although Cleveland’s passing offense struggled again, the Browns will remain with Gabriel at quarterback.

At his post-game press conference, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski made it clear that Gabriel will remain at quarterback.

“Yeah, we’re going to stick with Dillon,” Stefanski said postgame on Sunday. “Obviously, this is a young player that you’re always trying to get one game better and those type of things, but we have to play better as an offense, we have to coach better, all the above.”

Even though Shedeur Sanders is there for his first career NFL start, it’s clear that Stefanski doesn’t believe he is ready and doesn’t want him to start.

So, when the Browns play as a stingy Ravens defense on Sunday, it will be Gabriel getting the start.

Gabriel Knows he has to be Better

After another lackluster offensive performance, Gabriel made it clear that he has to be better.

Gabriel struggled to move the ball and make big offensive plays. So, after the game, he said it’s been frustrating for him and the offense.

“Yeah, when things aren’t going well, there’s always going to be change,” Gabriel said. “That’s part of it because keep doing the same thing and don’t change anything, that’s insanity. But just I feel like at times there’s things that went well and we sustained and executed and then in certain moments we didn’t execute and that starts with me.

“But yeah, it’s always frustrating when it’s not going the way you want it to and you put in the work and time, but in crucial moments you’ve got to have it and execute. And we didn’t.”

Although he is struggling, the Browns are sticking with Gabriel at quarterback, which he said he wasn’t paying attention to.

“All I can do is control what I can,” Gabriel said. “That’s what you’ve got to do. That’s all you got.”

Cleveland will host Baltimore on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
