Candace Cameron Bure has revealed her hopes a new faith-based movie will enable people to ‘turn to Jesus – three months after the actress was branded a ‘bigot’ over her ‘traditional marriage’ views.

The Full House actress, 46 – who sparked controversy for saying the Christian network she is now employed by will be focusing on ‘traditional marriage’ rather than same-sex couples – took to Instagram on Friday to praise film, Jesus Revolution.

The Kelsey Grammer-helmed film documents the story of late hippie preacher Lonnie Frisbee.  Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss portrays a Vietnam veteran who is battling back from an addiction to drugs.

Sharing a trailer for the film, Bure wrote: ‘@jesusrevolutionmovie hits theaters THIS FRIDAY, February 24th which means if you didn’t have any weekend plans, now you do!

‘Ultimately I pray this movie is used for His glory, and for people to hear the gospel and turn to Jesus.’

Bure prompted a backlash with an interview she did with the Wall Street Journal. She said her new TV network – Great American Family – would not be featuring gay couples in lead roles, unlike the Hallmark Channel, where she previously starred.

She previously announced she would be leaving the Hallmark Channel back in April, two years after the network released its first LGBTQ holiday movie with a gay lead couple.

Candace explained that she wanted ‘tell stories that have more meaning’ now that she is working with the Great American Family network, a cable television network founded in 1995, that was originally a country music channel.

In April last year, Candace revealed she was moving to the network, because it was a better fit to her ‘brand.’

‘I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose. GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family,’ she wrote.

However, the actress was then slammed when she confirmed this week that she did not expect the network to feature same-sex couples in starring roles. ‘I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,’ she said.

Last year, Bure revealed that she left the Hallmark Channel party because of the stories it was telling.

‘My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,’ she explained. ‘I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.’

She later added that she thought ‘Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.’

Great American Family is a cable television network that broadcasts family-oriented programs, much like Hallmark.

Celebrities like JoJo Siwa and Maren Morris were quick to call Bure’s comments homophobic.

One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton even called Bure a ‘bigot,’ and said ‘I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank,’ in a tweet.

Bure then released another statement to defending herself.

‘All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people,’ she told Fox News Digital. ‘It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.’
