The President and First Lady hosted trick-or-treaters on Thursday night at the White House – but it wasn’t all spooky, with Melania Trump making sure everyone was having fun.
Melania, 55, candidly showed off her maternal side while handing out candy, as she comforted a young girl who looked frightened by the Halloween decor surrounding her.
The young trick-or-treater, who was wearing a pink coat and a tiara, was noticeably distressed as she held a bag ready to collect candy from the President and First Lady.
While the girl looked like she was on the verge of tears, Melania appeared to have complete control over the situation, seen in a picture bending down to console the girl by placing her hand on her arm in a comforting manner.
Even though Melania’s long, blonde hair covered her face, the mom, who shares her only son Barron, 19, with her husband Donald Trump, appears to have successfully calmed the child down amid the chaos of the spooky holiday.
Fans took to social media to gush over the picture, in awe over the First Lady’s sweet gesture.

However, the holiday wasn’t all seamless, as the First Lady was slammed by online critics after she decorated the front of the White House with dozens of pumpkins, which some felt was in poor taste due to the fact that millions of Americans are about to lose access to food benefits next month amid the government shutdown.
In a notice posted to the US Department of Agriculture’s website on Sunday, the government blamed Democrats for not voting to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
However, the Trump administration reportedly declined to tap into approximately $5billion in contingency funds to cover SNAP costs amidst the second-longest shutdown in US history.
Given the current political climate, the decision to shower the White House in fresh pumpkins sparked outrage online, with many taking to social media to slam the First Lady.
‘Awesome, too bad millions will have no food soon,’ commented one.
‘Instead of decorating with food, how about using it to give nutrition to the needy?’ asked another.
