Celebs share tributes to late designer Valentino

Tributes are pouring in for the legendary designer Valentino, who died on Monday at the age of 93.

Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the first celebrities to post about her friendship with Valentino

“I was so lucky to know and love Valentino — to know the real man, in private,” she wrote alongside a photo of her giving a kiss on the designer’s cheek. “The man who was in love with beauty, his family, his muses, his friends. His dogs, his gardens, and a good Hollywood story. I loved him so much. I loved how he always pestered me to ‘at least wear a little mascara’ when I came to dinner. I loved his naughty laugh.

“This feels like the end of an era,” the “Shakespeare in Love” star concluded. “He will be deeply missed by me and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Vava 💔.”

Sarah Jessica Parker did not post any photos of herself with Valentino and instead opted for the designer’s birthday and date of death, with text “RIP VAVA,” a beloved nickname.

“So many memories,” the “And Just Like That…” star wrote. “So happy to recall. Of course, wish I had more.

“For your extraordinary talent, your decadent generosity and your love of all things beautiful, we are all more fortunate for the grand gestures you shared with the world. Godspeed Valentino Garavani. X, SJ.”

Fellow designer Donatella Versace posted two photos of Valentino on Instagram and mentioned the designer’s longtime business partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, in the caption.

“Today, we lost a true maestro who will forever be remembered for his art,” she wrote. “My thoughts go to Giancarlo who never left his side for all these years. He will never be forgotten 🕊️.”

“I’m heartbroken to hear of Valentino Garavani’s passing,” she wrote. “He was a true master of his craft, and I will always be grateful for the years I had the privilege of working closely with him. ❤️‍🩹.”

Supermodel Linda Evangelista posted a carousel of photos to social media, both with the designer and of herself wearing his clothes. “Mr. Valentino, thank you for the many wonderful memories of not only working with you, but the opportunity to experience your talent and elegance first hand. Rest in Peace,” she wrote.

“Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” read a statement released by his namesake foundation on Instagram Monday.

He will lie in state for several days in Piazza Mignanelli, and the funeral will take place on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri.
