Channel Seven stars are reportedly on edge amid a major change to the network.

Seven has announced they are merging with radio network Southern Cross Austereo, and the news has allegedly left the network’s stars, including Larry Emdur, Kylie Gillies and Mark Beretta, nervous.

‘Anyone in business knows that when these mergers happen, it generally sets the scene for more shock axings,’ an insider told Woman’s Day.

‘Very tellingly, last week on a Monday morning after a massive weekend of sports, Beretta was nowhere to be seen.’

The insider also claimed that The Morning Show hosts Larry and Kylie ‘would be the most worried’ due to their large salaries.

‘Many believe the show needs a reboot and nobody cares if jobs are lost – it’s all about the bottom line,’ they added.

It comes after Channel Seven sport editor Matt Carmichael was made redundant last month after a long and successful career with the broadcaster.

The 44-year-old got the news that he has been axed, bringing his 23-year stint with the network to an end.

‘Matt will now be taking a well-deserved extended break. Matt leaves as a script craftsman,’ Seven news and current affairs director Ray Kuka told staff in an email, according to News Corp.

‘Matt has worked at Seven for two decades but, sadly, that will come to an end next month, fittingly after the Bathurst 1000 (car race).’

He has worked on Seven shows including Sunrise, and the network’s afternoon, 6pm and morning news bulletins.

Carmichael covered the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and a host of other sporting events.

He was front and centre at the Tokyo Games in 2021, interviewed late NBA legend Kobe Bryant at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and has also worked on the Australian Open tennis.

Carmichael was very versatile, covering everything from AFL to rugby union, boxing, cricket and motorsport.

Just two weeks later, branded content series House of Wellness also overhauled its leading line-up following its debut season.

The popular Channel Seven show appears to have axed several cast members and replaced them with a new set of stars alongside a few familiar faces.

Mel Doyle and Shane Crawford returned to the show with series newbie and dermatologist Dr Ahmed Kazmi, while Gogglebox star Yvie Jones was upgraded to series regular.

However, missing from the show were season one faces Archie Thompson, Dr Renee Lim, Josh Piterman, Dr Andrew Rochford and Abbey Holmes.

According to TV Tonight, House of Wellness’ producers wanted more consistency when it came to the show’s hosts.
