Despite a disappointing 2025 NFL season, the Washington Commanders remain confident that they can return to contention in 2026. Jayden Daniels only played in seven games last season, which was the biggest cause of the regression.

Just two years ago, the Commanders made a shocking run to the NFC Championship Game. They weren’t far away from winning a championship.

Heading into this offseason, it has been clear that Washington is all-in on winning now. The front office has done everything in its power to improve on the defensive side of the football. Now, they need to continue investing in talent around Daniels offensively.

With that in mind, the Commanders have landed a new prediction that would see the team add an electrifying playmaker alongside of Daniels.

Washington Commanders Predicted to Land Jeremiyah Love in NFL Draft

In a new March 17 mock draft from CBS Sports analyst Mike Renner, Washington was projected to bring in the dynamic Notre Dame running back.

Love has been projected to go as high as No. 4 to the Tennessee Titans. Whether or not he will be on the board when the Commanders pick at No. 7 overall remains to be seen.

However, if he is available, Washington would be wise to consider the option.

During the 2025 college football season with the Fighting Irish, Love put up Heisman-caliber numbers. He carried the football 199 times for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging an eye-opening 6.9 yards per carry. He also caught 27 passes for 280 yards and three more touchdowns.

Adding that kind of running game along with Daniels’ elite dual-threat ability would be a nightmare cover for opposing defenses.

What Would Jeremiyah Love Bring to the Commanders’ Offense?

As can be clearly seen from his numbers last season at Notre Dame, Love has the potential to be a superstar workhorse running back in the NFL.

Zach Selby of the Commanders’ official website weighed in with his thoughts on the potential pairing of Daniels and Love.

“Jeremiyah Love next to Jayden Daniels would create the most dynamic backfield in the NFL,” Selby wrote. “You’d be hard-pressed to find a more dynamic backfield in league history. That will keep defenses out of two-high shells.”

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has also compared Love to current Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs. If he can be that kind of threat for Washington, the offense would take a huge leap forward.

Of course, everything about the NFL Draft right now is just a prediction. The Commanders may not end up having a chance to land Love at No. 7 overall. But, if that prediction becomes a reality, Washington will have a scary offense for years to come.
