Mummy blogger Constance Hall has raised eyebrows after admitting she prefers to argue with her husband Denim ‘by text’.

The Perth-based mother recently said texting was her ‘arguing language’ – her take on a ‘love language’ – where she’d message Denim all of her issues to avoid confrontation.

In a candid post on Facebook, Constance admitted that while prefers to argue with her husband via text, she was thrown off her game recently when Denim’s phone was destroyed in an accident.

‘Denz’s phone finally gave in last week (okay, it fell out of his pocket while he was skating and got ran over) and we have to wait for my new one to arrive so he can have mine,’ she explained.

‘We were reflecting on how it’s actually not that bad – he’s using my iPad at home and taking an actual bank card out with him when I’m not coming.’

While Denim has adjusted easily, Constance said she was left struggling.

‘You know how everyone has a love language like gift giving or physical touch? Well we have arguing languages too and my arguing language is definitely text sending.

‘Needless to say I’ve felt rather silenced this week.’

Unable to send a stream of messages, she resorted to a more old-fashioned approach.

‘The other day I resorted to writing him a letter. Denz had just left to walk Boris and I yelled out his name and ran to catch up and slipped a letter in his pocket.

‘I’m sure he was expecting something poetic or sexual, but his bubble would have been burst when he read the first line: 3 ways in which you were a massive c**k head this morning.’

Constance joked that the workaround came down to her husband’s dislike of emotional conversations.

‘If he wasn’t allergic to emotional conversations we wouldn’t be in this position in the first place,’ she said.

‘But I am looking forward to him being back online, if for nothing else then at least the coms.’

Her frank post immediately struck a chord with followers, who shared their own approaches to arguing.

‘I also love hand-writing a letter to express the stuff driving you mad! Something about constructing the letter and getting it out just doesn’t translate with electronic writing,’ one wrote.

‘I write my husband letters when I can’t express my words verbally. In the evening, we then talk about what I’ve written,’ another added.

A third joked they preferred ‘soft arguing or banter’ while driving with their partner.

‘He has to actually talk when we’re in the car. He can’t run away.’
