The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing to take on the Cleveland Guardians in a home series that will start on Monday and end on Wednesday.
Roki Sasaki is lined up to start the series opener, and then Shohei Ohtani is slated as the starter on Tuesday’s contest. The rotation will then turn to the Dodgers’ ace starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Dodgers Could Potentially Make MLB History

GettyThe Los Angeles Dodgers are still the talk of MLB, but there might be a scenario in which they fall short of expectations.
According to Fabian Ardaya, and per Elias Sports Bureau, this will be the first time in major league history that a team will start a Japanese-born pitcher in three straight games.
Roki Sasaki will start on Monday, and then Ohtani and Yamamoto are set to start on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Dodgers are 3-0, but the fact that it’s early in the season means all these arms should be fresh to go.
Sasaki comes into the season with some slight concerns. He was so good for the Dodgers as a reliever in the 2025 MLB playoffs, but had a rough spring training.

And then Yoshinobu Yamamoto will get the ball in the series finale, and there might not be a better pitcher in MLB right now than Yamamoto when you factor in big game pitching success.
Unless a last-second injury or random scratch happens, the Dodgers will make MLB history this season against the Cleveland Guardians.

Guardians vs. Dodgers Series Preview
So now you know the Dodgers’ probable starters in their upcoming series against the Guardians.
Cleveland split its opening four-game set with the Seattle Mariners, so Monday will be the Guardians’ fifth straight game to start the season.
Roki Sasaki has not started since May. If you remember correctly, he went down for much of the regular season in 2025 with a shoulder injury, and then emerged in the playoffs as a dominant force in the bullpen.
The Sasaki experience is one of the biggest storylines for Los Angeles in the early part of this season because Dave Roberts and the organization are relying on him to eat up innings to start the season.
