Equinox Printing House’s elevator causing more drama

The saga of the broken elevator at Equinox Printing House is reaching new heights, pitting gym rats against the luxury building’s residents, Page Six hears.

We’ve already reported twice since 2024 on the now-infamous lift, which has been infuriatingly unreliable.

The finicky amenity would be annoying enough, since it often means gym users are left competing for the equipment that happens to be on the ground floor, and its been known to separate members from their belongings in the upstairs locker rooms. But more irksome still, many of the features of the swank $3,600–a-year gym — including the rooftop pool and “zen room” — are on the upper levels.

But a weight has been, er, lifted, with news that the elevator is being replaced.

But in during the year-long overhaul, we’re told that members will have to use the building’s main elevators, sharing cars with people who live in the swanky residential building next door.

Tenants of the luxe building — where apartments go for $1 million to $3.5 million — are not thrilled about sharing the elevator with sweaty post-workout crowds of fitness fanatics.

A source tells us the board of the building is now deep in negotiations with the gym.

Apparently a plan to appease building residents is to offer free gym memberships.

“Some people would be ok with [that],” says a source. “But for those who already belong to a gym elsewhere, what are they going to get?”

A rep for Equinox tells us, “We’re actively working on this and do not have a timeline as of yet, but members will continue to have access to the entire club and all facilities.”

Back in August 2024, one gym member got stuck in the cursed elevator for nearly an hour before the FDNY rescued them. They were offered a $50 credit for their ordeal.
