If there is one thing we know about Mother’s Day, it is that most mums end up with the same bouquet and M&S gift card. Is it thoughtful and well meaning? Most of the time. Memorable? Not so much.
This year is your chance to really raise the bar and pick up a thoughtful present that your mum will truly love.
Our editors and writers are constantly trying, testing and obsessing over the latest and greatest products – be it new in John Lewis fashion drops or Marks and Spencer’s latest luxury homewares.
The below picks are genuine tested products and recommendations that are guaranteed to deliver. We’re talking jeans that flatter and feel good, lip balms and hydrating cleansers that deliver spa-level glow at home and kitchen must-haves like coffee machines, casserole dishes and frying pans that earn their space on the worktop.
Every item in this guide has been properly put through its paces, so consider this your shortcut to being the favourite child whether your budget is £20 or £200.

Mother’s Day gifts we’d avoid
If there’s one way to to guarantee disaster, it is picking a random, unverified item off the shelf. You’ve heard your mum likes bathroom goodies or perfume? Don’t just grab the first thing you see in tesco.
Not all bath oils, washes and smellies are created equal. You’re much better off doing your research first and in our opinion, spending a little more usually gets you a better product.
Also, make sure you know what types of fragrances and formulas your mum likes, rather than getting something you think is good. It’s ok to ask her.
It might sound obvious, but you should also avoid anything that revolves around cleaning. Sure, maybe she’d like a nice vacuum but Mother’s Day is not the time to buy her a gift that revolves around chores. Stick with gifts that revolve around pampering and hobbies like crafting, cooking and decorating.
