The “Game of Thrones” universe is giving us another knight, or two, to remember.
HBO has released the final trailer for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” an upcoming prequel series set in the iconic fantasy world of Westeros.
The new footage debuted during a Thursday panel at popular convention CCXP Brazil in São Paulo.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” takes place a century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” following two young heroes: Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell).
Per HBO, the series is “set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The new trailer follows Ser Duncan as he attempts to prove himself as a knight in a tournament, with the hope of being accepted into House Targaryen.
Author George R. R. Martin serves as co-creator and executive producer on “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” The series marks the third adaptation of his “A Song of Ice and Fire” franchise, following “Game of Thrones” and fellow prequel “House of the Dragon.”
“House of the Dragon,” which stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, has already aired two seasons and scooped up a Golden Globe for Best TV Drama, with a third season expected to debut in 2026.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is an adaptation of Martin’s three “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, “The Hedge Knight” (1998), “The Sworn Sword” (2003) and “The Mystery Knight” (2010).
The six-episode season debuts on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10pm on HBO, and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
