The Golden Globes has come under fierce fire online after it announced one of the awards during a commercial break.

With a range of accolades to give out and only a few hours carved out for the ceremony, most awards shows don’t have enough time to announce every single category during the live show.

But when the Golden Globes revealed the winner for Best Score, Motion Picture while the broadcast was off air showing ads, viewers were left outraged.

A clip of Sinners composer Ludwig Göransson accepting the award was shared on X, where it went viral.

‘The Golden Globes just presented Best Score during the commercial break,’ read the caption.

‘During the commercial?! Freaking gross,’ replied one user.

‘Thank you for sharing! I wanted to see it. Sad they didn’t broadcast it,’ another chimed in.

‘They had time for [host Nikki Glaser to sing] a song, a podcast award and a stand up one, yet not for score?’ asked someone else.

‘They should not be able to do this, just rude,’ scathed a different viewer.

‘Incredible to do this and then have an overly long song skit instead,’ read a fifth post.

A sixth said: ‘Instead we got Nikki Glaser singing?’

‘You presented the AWARD for BEST SCORE DURING THE COMMERCIAL BREAK just so you can have time for a sketch and a category for PODCASTS?!’ wrote a different person.

‘The amount of disrespect for the artists who poured their blood, sweat and tears is unfathomable.’

‘This makes me livid actually. Best Podcast airs in full with clips and everything but Best Score is sacrificed for more Big Pharma ad time. OK then,’ raged another.

Host Glaser opened the show with a explosive monologue, during which she took aim at president Donald Trump’s Justice Department, claiming they deserved an award for ‘best editing’ in the wake of the release of the heavily-redacted Epstein files.

‘I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight. It is insane,’ she said.

‘So many A-listers – and by A-listers, I mean people who are on “a list” that has been heavily redacted,’ Glaser continued, eliciting loud cheers and even some groans from the celebrity audience.

She went on to jokingly award the ‘Golden Globe for Best Editing’ to Trump’s Justice Department, who have released just one percent of the files since Trump signed off on their release in November 2025.

She then moved her sights to Leonardo DiCaprio, making a ‘cheap’ joke about the actor’s affinity for younger women.

‘I mean, countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director. You’ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar,’ she said.

‘And the most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.’

Cameras immediately cut to DiCaprio, whose sheepish, visibly uncomfortable reaction – complete with averted eyes – quickly became the moment everyone was talking about.

He even offered up an awkward thumbs up.

Glaser swiftly followed up with an apology for the ‘cheap’ joke, admitting the famously private actor rarely gives the public much to work with beyond his dating history.

‘I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap. I tried not to but we don’t know anything else about you man, there’s nothing else. I mean, open up! I searched,’ she continued.

‘The most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still pasta, pasta, and more pasta?’

DiCaprio’s Italian supermodel girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, 27, who first sparked romance rumors with him in 2023, did not accompany him to the Golden Globes.
