Grammy winner Kim Petras has requested to be dropped from her music label.

The Unholy singer, 33, posted a series of messages to X on Tuesday, revealing she has asked her label Republic Records to let her out of her contract.

The transgender pop star — who skyrocketed to global fame with Sam Smith on their smash 2022 hit Unholy, which earned them a Grammy for Best Pop Duo — cited lack of support for her music career.

Petras accused the label of refusing to give her a release date for her new album Detour and alleged her collaborators have not yet been paid.

‘I’m tired of having no control over my own life or career,’ the German born star wrote, revealing she is willing to self-fund her career going forward.

She also hit out at the industry, blasting labels for ignoring talent in favor of ‘TikTok trends’ and what she branded ’80s revival queerbaiting s**t.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Republic Records and Petras for comment.

‘My album has been done for 6 months but my record label has refused to give me a release date or pay my collaborator’s for the work they’ve done,’ she began.

‘I won a grammy 2 years ago…….. the music is TEA. Still no support . If it’s not a tiktok trend or 80s revival queerbaiting s**t these labels have no interest in supporting,’ the star went on.

‘I’m tired of having no control over my own life or career. I want to continue to self fund and self curate my own music. This is why I have formally requested to be dropped by @RepublicRecords,’ Petras added.

‘Oh ya I also filmed and self funded a music video over 2 months ago for my next single that they also wouldn’t give me a release date for. Best MV i’ve ever done btw… 9 looks 6 setups 13 pairs of shoes…’

Petras then gave a shout out to her supporters, writing, ‘My fans have waited long enough. I love u guys.’

‘I’m dropping Detour regardless,’ she added, referring to her reported third studio album.

Her second album, Problématique, was released in 2023.

Petras signed with Republic Records in 2021, starting out with her single ‘Future Starts Now.’

The star released her first single, ‘I Don’t Want It At All’, in 2017.

Meanwhile her feature on Unholy earned her a Grammy in February 2023, making her the first transgender woman ever to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Last November, Petras revealed she injured her vocal cords during her 2023–2024 Feed the Beast tour.

‘I had to learn vocal technique because I didn’t learn until I went on tour and blew out my voice and was like, “What the f**k do I do?”’ Petras told People.

‘So I really had to wreck my vocal cords before I learned how to properly use my instrument.’

Even with the damage, she narrowly avoided surgery, admitting, ‘I got away with it, but I had to shut up for two weeks, not use my voice at all.’

But her vocal-cord confession arrived amid continued buzz over her dramatic weight loss.

Back in July, the German pop star stunned social media when she stripped down to a G-string, showing off a much slimmer frame.

Fans sounded off immediately — and opinions were split. One wrote, ‘Yes skinny legend!’ Another added, ‘Her thong straps look like they’re sliding down.’

Speculation has swirled for more than a year that Petras may be using Ozempic or a similar drug.

She hasn’t confirmed anything, but Dr. Adam Rubinstein previously told Daily Mail: ‘This is a pretty clear body change that happened over a year, and I think it is not unlikely that Kim used Ozempic or some similar weight-loss drug.’

The Cologne-born star first shot into the public eye in 2006 aged 13 when she appeared on TV show Stern to discuss her gender transition.

Kim – born Tim – began calling herself a girl when she was just two years old. She started having hormone replacement therapy as part of her gender transition by the age of 12 – and convinced doctors that she should have gender reassignment surgery.

By 14, she was officially registered as a girl, with the future star appearing on a documentary and a talk show to campaign for permission to get early gender reassignment surgery at age 16, two years before the minimum required age of 18 in Germany.

Kim was 16 when she became the youngest person to have gender reassignment surgery, with her teenage TV appearances leading her to be dubbed ‘the world’s youngest transsexual.’
