Hands don’t lie! Expert reveals how they always give away your REAL age – so can you guess which celebrities are betrayed by their ageing skin?

While eyes are the windows to the soul, the hands are without a doubt a telling indicator of someone’s true age.

So while most women are used to slathering moisturiser onto their faces, following a detailed skincare routine or even indulging in tweakments to conceal the decade they were really born in, it could all be for naught.

Indeed, UK-based Dr Ross Perry, medical director of Cosmedics skin clinics, told the Daily Mail how hands are the most telling areas when it comes to visible signs of ageing.  

He said: ‘Unlike the face, the skin on the backs of the hands is thin and exposed to sun, environmental stressors and daily wear, so features such as skin texture, volume loss, tendon prominence and pigmentation can become more noticeable with age.’

But it’s not just your everyday folks who struggle with ageing hands – celebrities also fall victim to dry skin, lack of volume or even veiny hands as they grow older.

As such, Dr Ross was challenged to work out how old these famous faces are from their hands – and the results will surprise you.   

KATE MOSS

Real age: 52

Hand age: Early 40s

Dr Ross said: ‘Kate Moss’s hands are often photographed with long, elegant fingers and relatively smooth skin. 

‘From what we can see publicly, the skin texture appears good, with minimal deep lines or significant pigmentation, all of which are classic signs of ageing.

‘Despite her well-documented smoking history, which can accelerate collagen breakdown and thin the skin over time, her hands appear remarkably well preserved. 

‘This suggests she likely has very strong genetic factors working in her favour, alongside professional skincare and sun protection. 

‘Based purely on visible texture, tone and volume, I would estimate her hands to appear closer to the early forties rather than her chronological age of 52. 

‘They don’t show the degree of volume loss or prominent veining we often expect beyond the mid-forties.’

KRIS JENNER 

Real age: 70

Hand age: Early 80s

‘Kris Jenner’s face is meticulously maintained, but her hands tell a different story,’ claimed the expert. 

‘They’re thin, veiny, and dotted with age spots which are the classic signs of skin that’s lost fat and elasticity over the years. 

‘Hands get more sun, more wear and tear, and far less attention than the face, so even someone with flawless facial aesthetics can end up with hands that look like they’re in their late 70s or early 80s.

‘It’s nothing shocking, just the way our bodies age, and it’s exactly why targeted hand treatments exist if you want everything to match.’

MADONNA

Real age: 67

Hand age: Late 60s

‘Madonna’s hands have been noted as showing more prominent tendons and veins, which is typical of thinner skin and long-term sun exposure,’ explained the expert.

‘This gives her hands a slightly more mature appearance compared with younger peers and is compounded by her low body fat and rigorous exercise regime. 

‘I would say her hands reflect her actual age in the late 60s. Interestingly, her flawless facial features make this contrast particularly striking, as the face appears younger and smoother compared to the natural ageing visible on her hands.’

KATIE PRICE

Real age: 47

Hand age: Late 50s

Dr Ross said: ‘Katie Price’s hands in public photos often show more pronounced lines and textural changes. 

‘This is consistent with long-term sun exposure, lifelong use of sunbeds, and a lifestyle that may not always support optimal skin health. 

‘The skin appears thinner with some visible veins and reduced volume, which are classic markers of hand ageing. 

‘Based on these features, I would estimate her hands to appear a decade older than her chronological age, placing them in the mid to late 50s.’

AMANDA HOLDEN

Real age: 55

Hand age: 40

‘Amanda Holden’s hands appear significantly smoother and less veined than we might typically expect for someone in her early fifties,’ revealed Dr Ross.

‘The skin looks well hydrated, with limited pigmentation, which would place their visible age at closer to around 40.

‘There is good volume retention on the back of the hands, meaning the tendons and veins aren’t overly prominent, something we often start to see more of from the mid-forties onwards. 

‘This suggests consistent skincare, sun protection and overall good lifestyle choices.’

JENNIFER ANISTON

Real age: 57

Hand age: Early 40s

‘Jennifer Aniston’s hands appear noticeably younger than her chronological age, with healthy nail beds and excellent moisture retention, all factors that help reduce visible signs of ageing,’ said Dr Ross.

‘She is well known for her disciplined approach to diet, exercise and overall well-being, and it’s clear this extends to the care of her hands. 

‘The skin shows minimal prominent veins, and there is good volume retention across the hand. 

‘Based on these observations, I would estimate her hands to appear in the early 40s, younger than her actual age, reflecting both genetics and a consistent skincare routine.’

Sarah Jessica Parker

Real age: 60

Hand age: Early 60s

‘Sarah Jessica Parker’s hands, much like her iconic style, carry a certain elegance,’ claimed the expert. 

‘While her face shows careful maintenance, her hands reveal the natural signs of aging so slightly thinner skin, gentle veins, and subtle sun marks, but nothing that detracts from their graceful appearance. 

‘At 60, they read a touch older, perhaps early 60s. Hands like hers tell a story rather than just an age, and with a bit of targeted care, they could perfectly match the refinement of her face.’

HELEN MIRREN

Real age: 80

Hand age: 80

The expert said: ‘Helen Mirren’s hands, seen in many public appearances, show natural aging with some textural lines and slight volume loss, but also maintained elasticity for a woman of her age and extensive career. 

‘Mature skin can be expected, especially given her age and outdoor exposure over time. 

‘Looking incredible at 80, I’d probably say Helen’s hands are what we’d expect to see on a woman between the age of 75 to 80.’

ALISON HAMMOND

Real age: 51

Hand age: Mid 40s

‘Alison Hammond’s hands generally appear well cared-for, with minimal deep lines or significant volume loss. 

‘Overall, they give a youthful and healthy visual impression in public photos. 

‘However, Allison has openly mentioned having dry skin, which can accelerate the appearance of fine lines if not managed. 

‘Regular moisturising, hydration, and sun protection will be key to maintaining this youthful appearance over time. The age of hands appear to be mid 40’s.’
