Rupert Grint has opened up on his ‘isolating’ and ‘traumatising’ fatherhood journey after he welcomed his second child with Georgia Groome.
The Harry Potter star, 37, who played Ron Weasley in the movie, shares Wednesday, five and Goldie, 10 months, with long-term girlfriend Georgia.
But now he has shared a confession about the realities of being a father, as he has spoken about the fears around being a parent.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘The fear of the dangers and the baby getting hurt, something being not quite normal. I definitely had it with Wednesday.
‘Those first few months can be quite isolating. It’s a terrible feeling when it should be the most amazing thing, but it can be quite traumatising.’
Rupert and fellow actor Georgia, who is famed for her role in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, have been together since 2011 but have worked hard to keep their relationship out of the public eye.

The actor spoke about Georgia briefly in a 2021 interview with Glamour, saying: ‘It’s a very natural thing, we’re just best friends. We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way.
‘That’s always made it work, that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works, and it’s great.’
Rupert was the first of the core three Potter child stars to become a parent.
They welcomed their daughter, Wednesday, in May 2020. Six months after their baby’s arrival, Rupert then joined Instagram to reveal her name.
Rupert wrote alongside a sweet snap of him cuddling his baby daughter: ‘Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram!
‘Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.’ (sic)
His Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe became a father for the first time after welcoming a child with his long-term partner Erin Drake in April 2023.
Following Wednesday’s birth, Rupert shared his worries as a new father, admitting he would constantly check on her breathing when she was asleep.

Rupert and fellow actor Georgia, who is famed for her role in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (pictured), have been together since 2011 and largely keep their family life private
He told Entertainment Tonight in 2021: ‘I don’t want to go too into detail, but the first night was just terrifying. You can’t sleep at all, just constantly checking that she’s breathing.’
‘Sleeping, in general, for me, is something I’ve really struggled with. I think as a kid, people always said, “They died in their sleep,” so I always thought sleep was a really dangerous, dangerous thing.’
He also said that being a father to the daughter he shares with actress Georgia was all he really cared about and has changed his perspective.
‘[Fatherhood], it’s definitely changed my perspective. Since becoming a dad, kind of midway through, just to really have a better sense of what that can do to a family, that kind of level of loss is unimaginable.’
