ICE Protesters Storming Churches Now; Hotels Kicking People Out – HotAir

This is a breaking story, so the information is a bit mixed. There are reports of church services in both Minneapolis and Saint Paul being disrupted by anti-ICE protesters, but I suspect that the reports are all about the same disruption, naming the two different cities.

With that caveat, there is no doubt that the services at at least one church were disrupted by anti-ICE protesters storming the service to drown out the pastor who, they claim, is associated with ICE.

Don Lemon live-streamed (one of?) the invasions, comparing the protest to those of the 1960s. I’m not sure that a sit-in at a Woolworth’s is quite the same thing as this, but perhaps there were similar protests about which I am unaware.

Presumably, the protest was planned some time ago, if Don Lemon was tipped off about the protesters storming the church. Apparently, if Don Lemon is to be believed (not a sure bet, of course), more such protests are to be expected.

It’s quite cold here in the Twin Cities, so invading warmer spaces is a much more attractive option than outdoor protests, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the activity move indoors, and clearly, protesters are trying to make life difficult for everybody, not just ICE agents. Hotels are no longer serving ICE agents out of concern for customer safety and are no longer taking reservations.

They are getting threats.

NEW: I’m told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close “due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul.”I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels. I’m told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents.

The threats appear to be very real. On social media sites, people are talking about building IEDs, poisoning ICE agents, and other types of terrorism.

I expected that with the temperature going down the temperature of the protests would too, but I underestimated both the commitment of the terrorists and their willingness to step things up by threatening the general public.

It’s hard to conclude anything but that the violence will kick up yet another notch. We are in the revolutionary violence stage, and our local elected officials seem determined to back the “protesters” over law enforcement, no matter how violent and disruptive they are getting.

Ordinary people are getting accosted in the streets and in restaurants now because they are “suspected” of being ICE agents. Nothing says fighting fascism better than randomly accosting people and demanding that they prove they are not members of a group you dislike.
