A doctor has revealed the five ‘toxic’ health habits that everyone must stop doing immediately – especially young people.

The information was shared in a new video posted to TikTok this week by New York City-based cardiologist, Dr. Evan Levine.

Dr. Levine often takes to his TikTok account to share his expert tips and advice.

This time was no different, as he revealed the list of the top five things that young people need to avoid.

The first thing on his list of things to avoid was vaping, which he says is a ‘worldwide’ problem.

‘Vaping injures your lung, as cancer-causing chemicals screws up the development of your brain, which isn’t developed until the age of 25, and increases the risk for heart attacks and stroke,’ Dr. Levine explained in the video clip.

‘I don’t want you to look back when you’re 50 and you have psych issues or cancer or a heart attack and have regrets,’ he continued.

On a similar note, Dr. Levine’s next warning was to avoid hookah, which uses a water pipe to create vapor.

‘Hookah smoking carries serious health risks,’ the cardiologist shared.

‘Worse than cigarette smoking, it includes cancers, lung, oral, heart disease, due to toxic levels of things like tar, carbon monoxide and those carcinogens,’ he continued.

Dr. Levine warned that the water pipe is not able to ‘filter out’ those kind of ‘toxins.’

‘The long duration of that hookah session can expose you to even more smoke and carbon monoxide than a cigarette,’ he said, while pointing out that hookah smoke typically also contains nicotine.

He also says it can pose a risk for ‘infectious disease’ because you have to share a mouthpiece with others while using the hookah.

In addition, he said that you can even get carbon monoxide poisoning from the device.

Next on his list was a surprising one – and that was blasting your headphones or your car’s speaker.

‘It significantly increases the risk of noise-induced hearing loss, tinnitus, the horrible ringing in your ear, and permanent damage to the hear cells in your inner ear,’ the doctor shared.

'Alcohol is a very toxic drug, it not only increases the risk of cancer, especially in women, that's breast cancer, but it also increases the risk of heart disease,' Dr. Levine explained (stock image)

‘Try not to listen above 60 percent of volume,’ he warned.

And, finally, the last two habits he recommended that young people stop were drinking alcohol and participating in recreational drug use.

‘Cocaine or fentanyl is like playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun, with your life,’ he warned.

But it’s not only cocaine that has the potential to cause damage.

Dr. Levine states that smoking marijuana can ‘reduce cognitive ability,’ and can be bad for your lungs and heart.

‘At number five, alcohol,’ he concluded.

‘Alcohol is a very toxic drug, it not only increases the risk of cancer, especially in women, that’s breast cancer, but it also increases the risk of heart disease,’ Dr. Levine explained.

‘It’s responsible for lots of accidents. In 2022, young drivers, aged 15 to 20, made up 19 percent of all alcohol-impaired drivers involved in fatal traffic accidents,’ he concluded.

In the comments section of his TikTok post, many people agreed with his tips.

‘As an audiologist thank you for this message,’ one person wrote.

Another shared, ‘Alcohol is poison period.’

‘Yes! Marijuana is dangerous. I’ve seen how it damages people,’ someone else claimed.
