Glass trinket box ($6)

Kmart has just dropped its largest homewares release to date – and it’s already a huge hit with shoppers.

Landing in stores and online, the February Living collection spans furniture, decor, bedding, kitchenware and cleaning – with prices starting from just $1.75.

The new collection leans into the aesthetic Australians have been quietly embracing: warmer neutrals, chocolate browns, muted greens, serene blues and sculptural shapes.

It also arrives at the exact moment many households are planning a January reset.

Some of the most popular items in the collection are bargain buys under $10.

‘Even as a buyer I still have my own list of items I can’t wait to add to my home from the range, and some of my favourites are the small items that can really refresh a space without breaking the bank,’ Kmart buyer Sarah Dummett told the Daily Mail.

Aussies can use the stripe mugs ($5) and hand towels ($6) to add a retro-feel to their homes on a budget, or turn to the chrome look vase ($10) for a pop of disco.

The green glass trinket box ($6) and pistachio glass candle ($7) will pair well as a set to add a subtle pop of colour to a dining or bedroom.

Capri-core dining and playful Mediterranean prints

One of the most eye-catching parts of the drop is a Mediterranean-inspired dining range that feels tailor-made for long lunches and summer hosting.

Think Capri-in-summertime energy: bowls and plates ($12 for sets of four) decorated with tomatoes, lemons, chillies, olives, sardines and pasta motifs, alongside matching placemats ($3), cushion covers ($7), and novelty tomato salt and pepper shakers ($6).

The range is perfect year-round – but especially when Aussies are dreaming about Euro summer.

Candles, chrome, and viral lamps

Kmart is also doubling down on candles, launching new collections featuring glass vessels from $7 and novelty ceramic candles scented like sweet caramel popcorn and vanilla ice cream for $13.

Meanwhile, the retailer’s viral Nico Portable Rechargeable Lamp – already a cult favourite – returns in trending new colourways including chocolate, pink, blue and berry ($19).

It taps into the wider interior shift towards chrome finishes and richer tones, offering an affordable way to experiment with colour without committing to big-ticket furniture.

Practical upgrades Australians actually want

Beyond the aesthetic upgrades, the collection also includes products designed to feel genuinely useful.

The new Multi Head Spin Mop ($50), featuring dual mop heads for extra shine, is being positioned as a smarter, more efficient cleaning essential.

On the bedroom front, the Reversible Linen Quilt Cover Set ($62) leans into the enduring stripes trend, launching in Tan and White, Lilac and Green, and Blue stripes – signalling that classic patterns with a modern colour twist are still dominating home styling.

The $65 bedside table tapping into luxury looks

For those chasing a high-end bedroom aesthetic on a budget, the new Claire Marble-Look Bedside Table ($65) offers a marble-look top, walnut-style ribbed detailing, and a streamlined silhouette that mirrors far pricier designer pieces.

It’s part of a wider trend Kmart is leaning into: creating furniture that mimics premium materials – marble, walnut, velvet – at prices accessible to renters, first-home buyers and anyone redecorating without a renovation budget.

The $155 Goldie Lounge Chair tipped to sell out

But the breakout item of the range may well be the Goldie Lounge Chair ($155) – a softly distressed beige chair already being touted as the next big Kmart furniture obsession.

Described as a ‘goes-with-everything’ hero piece, the chair features textured fabric, a relaxed silhouette and a warm neutral tone designed to work across minimalist apartments, cosy family homes, and modern rental spaces.

The chair follows in the footsteps of last year’s viral Chenille Como expandable chair, which sold out repeatedly after blowing up on social media.

Kmart buyer Nicholas Holmes said early interest suggests the Goldie could become one of the year’s biggest sell-outs.

‘The chair of the season last year flew off the shelves and took social media by storm,’ he previously told the Daily Mail.

‘This year, we’re tipping the Goldie chair to be one of the standout pieces of the range.’

Interior experts say the chair taps directly into the growing appetite for softer, grounding interiors – a shift away from stark minimalism towards warmer, more comforting spaces that feel lived-in rather than showroom-perfect.
