Insider shares stunning Browns trade.
The Cleveland Browns drafted two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, but the Browns are still searching for their franchise quarterback.
Cleveland enters the season with Joe Flacco as the starter, Dillon Gabriel as the backup, and Shedeur Sanders as the third-stringer. Deshaun Watson is injured, and his future with the team is murky.
With that, the Browns could use a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on a franchise quarterback. Yet, NFL insider Tony Grossi urges Cleveland to make a bold trade to make sure they get their franchise QB in the draft
“Well, I am willing to give up the 2027 number one to do it, in addition (to the two first-rounders in 2026),” Grossi said.
In the hypothetical scenario, the Browns finish with a pick outside the top-10, so in order to get up to the top pick, Grossi would part ways with three first-round picks.
It would be a bold move to trade three first-round picks to select a rookie. But, Grossi believes any of the top quarterbacks in the draft are worth moving up for and would immediately solidify the position for the Browns.
Cleveland has their own and the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ first-round picks in 2026.
Who Are The Top QBs in The 2026 NFL Draft?
The 2026 NFL Draft is expected to be quarterback-heavy in the first round.
Even if Arch Manning doesn’t declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, the likes of Garrett Nussmeier, LaNorris Sellers, Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik, and Fernando Mendoza, all potential first-round picks.
Although Grossi wants the Browns to move up and trade three first-round picks, Cleveland may not have to. Instead, the Browns could wait around pick 10 to select one of the quarterbacks who fall.
However, Grossi believes Cleveland needs to be aggressive and make a bold trade to finally land their franchise quarterback. The insider doesn’t believe Gabriel or Sanders are the answers, and Cleveland needs to address it in a deep 2026 NFL Draft Class.
Browns Mocked to Select Sellers in 2026 NFL Draft
Cleveland will likely look to select a quarterback early in the 2026 NFL Draft.
NFL insider and analyst Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic mocked the Browns using the second overall pick to select Sellers.
“So much of this depends on what we see from the 20-year-old Sellers this season. He had some very nice stretches in the pocket as a sophomore last season, though, while remaining dangerous in the open field— and difficult to tackle at 6 feet 3, 242 pounds. He has youthful habits to iron out, but Sellers has the tools to be a star at the next level,” Baumgardner wrote.
Sellers is entering his second year as the starting quarterback at South Carolina. He could stay in college for another season, but it is likely Sellers will declare for the draft and go early.
Sellers currently has the third-best odds of being the first overall pick at +400, behind Allar and Nussmeier.
The 20-year-old quarterback went 196-for-299 for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 674 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns, showing his ability to be a dual-threat quarterback.
