One of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims has opened up about the horrific ‘gaslighting’ she faced after coming forward to speak out about the billionaire pedophile’s abuse – revealing she was told by multiple people, including her own father, that she ‘deserved’ the heinous assaults she faced.

Sarah Ransome, now 37, wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that she was branded a ‘gold digger’ and a ‘w***e’ by people who insisted that she ‘should have known better’ because she was a ‘legal adult’ when she was roped into the financer’s sex trafficking operation.

Ransome was introduced to Epstein and his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, by a woman who she considered a ‘friend’ in 2006 – when she was 22 years old.

Like many other young women, she said the businessman promised to help her career by offering to fund her education and connect her with people in the fashion industry.

He invited her on a trip to visit his private island, however, when she got there, he took away her passport and phone, and told her she wouldn’t be allowed to leave.

Ransome said she was ‘raped’ many times and treated like Epstein’s ‘sex toy,’ while being kept in a ‘dungeon of sexual Hell.’ She was ultimately able to escape in 2007 and fled to the U.K.

Now, the sexual abuse survivor advocate has opened up about the severe ‘gaslighting’ and ‘victim-blaming,’ as well as the horrific online abuse she has faced since speaking out about her suffering.

According to Ransome, she was branded as a ‘gold digger,’ a ‘w***e,’ and a ‘prostitute’ by people who told her she should ‘have known better’ since she was a ‘legal adult’ when it took place.

‘I was 22. And when you’re a legal adult, you face a barrage of “you should have known better” victim-blaming and “you deserved it” gaslighting,’ she wrote.

‘Since coming forward in 2016, I have been called a “gold digger,” a “w***e” and a “prostitute.” Even my own father said, “You made your bed, you can lie in it.”’

Ransome said she wouldn’t wish her pain on ‘anyone,’ adding that her ‘dignity was stripped from her’ and that the backlash made her ‘question her own mind and thoughts’ – which resulted in her attempting to end her own life twice.

The billionaire investor was connected to many well-known celebrities and politicians, including Former President Donald Trump, Former President Bill Clinton, actor Kevin Spacey, US Attorney General William Barr, filmmaker Woody Allen, and Duke of York Prince Andrew.

‘I have been ridiculed by lawyers and ignored by law enforcement,’ Ransome continued. ‘People can judge survivors and say we should have done more to speak out or that we should name more names.

‘Doing so threatens a group of wealthy, well-respected powerbrokers with influential friends and lawyers trained to silence accusers.

‘I think a lot of survivors don’t come forward because it’s one thing for a stranger to judge you, but it’s another when your loved ones join the victim shaming and law enforcement says you don’t qualify as a victim because of your age. The re-traumatization can undermine your efforts at recovery. I know it did mine.’

Ransome explained that she was ‘recruited’ into Epstein’s circle by a woman named Natalya Malyshev.

She first met Malyshev in a club, and she told her that Epstein was going to help her break into the fashion industry.

While being kept as a prisoner on Epstein’s island, she recalled seeing underage girls being ‘coerced into nude massages, masturbation, oral sex, and intercourse,’ adding that young women were ‘trafficked and raped for more than three decades.’

The 37-year-old explained that she was the ‘perfect target’ due to her past trauma – she had been sexually abused when she was a child and grew up in a ‘dysfunctional family.’

‘All I’ve ever known is rape, abuse, trauma. Being a child like that, you don’t know what’s normal and what’s not. Your boundaries are broken down,’ she explained.

‘I was the perfect target. But even if you were from a “good family” you could be snared.

‘[Epstein] wasn’t some old geezer in a bar saying, “Come to my island.” It was a carefully scripted, well-oiled machine.

‘This was a professional sex trafficking ring. Epstein and Maxwell taught girls to recruit girls, women to recruit women. They knew what they were looking for.’

Epstein was eventually arrested in July 2019 and was charged with conspiracy and sex trafficking. He committed suicide while he was waiting trial.

As for Maxwell, Epstein’s former lover and partner in the scheme, she was convinced of conspiracy and sex trafficking charges in December, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Ransome added that seeing Maxwell be found guilty was ‘life changing,’ and that it helped restore her ‘self-worth and dignity,’ which Epstein and Maxwell previously ‘took from her.’ But the fight is far from over.

‘Still, I do not think that justice has been completely served with Maxwell’s sentencing,’ she said.

‘There are so many others involved in the crimes who have not been held accountable.

‘No survivor should have to go through the journey from hell and back that I went through.’

Ransome helped found the Adult Survivors Act, which was passed in May and allows victims of sexual abuse who are over 18 years old to sue defendants who can’t be criminally charged due to the statute-of-limitations.

‘This is not just about young girls, I can assure you. Every survivor of rape and trafficking deserves compassion,’ she concluded.

‘Your age, sex, gender, skin color and class don’t matter. What happened to me should never happen to any human being.

‘My job now is to make sure others – victims, perpetrators, law enforcement and society at large – know that, too.’

She spoke out further about the abuse she endured at the hands of Epstein and Maxwell in her memoir, Silence No More: Surviving My Journey to Hell and Back,’ which hit stands last December. She also detailed the trauma through her victim impact statement last month.

‘Epstein and Maxwell were masters at finding young, vulnerable girls and young women to exploit’ Ransome said in the statement.

‘However, soon after lulling me and others into a false sense of comfort and security, they pounced, ensnaring us in their upside-down, twisted world of rape, rape and more rape.

‘Like Hotel California, you could check into the Epstein-Maxwell dungeon of sexual hell, but you could never leave. Ghislaine by her own hand, forced me into Epstein’s room to be raped.

‘[I was] nothing more than a sex toy with a heartbeat and soul used to entertain Epstein, Maxwell and others.

‘On one visit to the island, the sexual demands, degradation, and humiliation ensued me to try to escape by jumping off a cliff into shark-infested waters.

‘I was caught by Maxwell and company moments before jumping. At the time, that extremely risky escape seemed more appealing than being raped one more time.’
