Is it too late now to say sorry?
Justin Bieber looked back on the “tension” that took place during his son Jack’s August 2024 delivery, admitting Hailey Bieber confronted him over “butting heads” with her doula.
The singer, 31, explained via Twitch on Monday that he felt the doula was “pushing [him] to the side” when he felt the “need to console” his wife.
“It’s instinctual to be a dad and to, like, be there,” the Grammy winner explained during the stream, noting that while he appreciated the doula’s desire to “help facilitate,” he wanted to “be in there too.”
At the time, Hailey, 28, felt “anxious” over how “strong” Justin was being with the advocate.
“She was like, ‘You need to apologize to the doula. Like … just clear the air,’” Justin recalled.
The songwriter obliged and said sorry, explaining that his “emotions [were] heightened.”
He then requested the doula not “take away from [his] moment either as the dad,” adding, “I’ve got good instincts with this stuff too.”
Hailey’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
While the skincare mogul was not present for Monday’s candid chat, she discussed her birth experience with Vogue in May.
The new mom told the magazine she was induced at 39 weeks after leaking amniotic fluid, with doctors breaking her water.
“That s–t was so crazy,” she recalled of having a Foley balloon inserted into her uterus to dilate her cervix. “That was not fun.”
The Rhode creator, who “labored for a few hours” without an epidural, also opened up about the “scary” postpartum complication she suffered after Jack’s arrival.
“I was bleeding really badly,” she said. “People die, and the thought crosses your mind. You start to get a little freaked out.”
However, Hailey added, “I trust my doctor with my life. And so I had peace that I knew she would never let anything happen to me.”
She and Justin celebrated their baby boy’s 1st birthday over the summer, with Hailey giving a glimpse of the little one’s camp-themed party via Instagram.
The couple have been married since 2018 and are still going strong despite rampant rumors of marital woes earlier this year — which Justin confirmed in his “Swag” album.
“You said ‘Forever,’ babe, did you mean it or not?” he asked in “Daisies” in July. “And if it ain’t right, babe, you know I respect it / But if you need time, just take your time.”
The pop star’s subsequent “Swag II” record came out two months later and gave an update on their relationship, with loved-up lyrics about knowing they’re “gonna make it out.”
