Kamala Harris has shared some sage dating advice for the younger generation – but not everyone was on board.
The former Vice President dropped her relationship tips on the Rich Little Brokegirls podcast on Tuesday, declaring that dating is all about knowing what period of life you’re in.
‘There are different phases in your life,’ Harris, 61, explained on the podcast.
‘Maybe you’re going to choose that you want to have that kind of Friday night relationship,’ she continued.
‘Or you want that Sunday morning relationship,’ she quipped, before dissolving into laughter.
‘Sometimes you can get both, and sometimes [it’s] just oil and water. And that’s OK! Be in those phases where you are having fun,’ she recommended.
She also advised being with someone who ‘allows you to laugh at yourself and them.’
‘Choose to be with someone who you know you like going to the grocery store [with], taking a walk together,’ she suggested.

While some people appreciated the advice, others mocked the former VP, complaining that her advice was ‘nothing profound.’
‘Nothing profound, but she acts like it’s deep wisdom. Hard to believe this woman ran for president,’ declared one user.
‘Why does she feel the need to explain the basics to people like we are children?’ said another.
‘My advice is don’t take advice from Kamala Harris for anything,’ slammed someone else.
‘What sort of moron would bother listening to her advice, let alone follow it?’ snarked a fourth user.
Others related it to her past relationship with former Mayor Willie Brown, whom she famously dated when he was 60 and she was 29.
‘Our girl Kamala Harris is back again and this time with dating advice. She says you can be a Saturday or Sunday kind of gal. We all know she knows a little about that. Hehehe… just ask former Mayor Willie Brown,’ one user mocked.
Harris has been married to Doug Emhoff, 61, since 2014. They met in 2013 after a mutual friend set them up on a blind date.

He was previously married to film producer Kerstin Mackin, whom he had two children with – Cole and Ella – before they split in 2008.

And when she became Vice President of the United States that November, he was nothing but supportive.
‘I would have supported whatever she decided,’ he told Marie Claire in 2020 of her decision to become Joe Biden’s running mate.
‘But I’m not her political adviser. I’m her husband. And so my role was to be there for her, to love her, to have her back, to talk it through, to help her.’
Harris’s sudden thrust into the public eye may have put a large spotlight on their romance and left little time for relaxing, but it didn’t deter them.
Emhoff’s son, Cole, joked to the New York Times in 2021, ‘Doug and Kamala together are like almost vomit-inducingly cute and couple-y. I’m like, “When is this going to wear off?”
His sister, Ella, added, ‘It’s so insane. It’s like the honeymoon phase forever.’
