The Dallas Cowboys acquired Logan Wilson from the Bengals.

The Dallas Cowboys overhauled their struggling defense at the NFL trade deadline by acquiring Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson in marquee deals.

So when Wilson met the Dallas media, he spoke about why he wanted to be a member of the Cowboys and why he is excited to wear the star on his helmet.

Wilson has 46 tackles, four passes defended and a fumble recovery in eight games for the Cincinnati Bengals this season. The third-round pick of the Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft had 541 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 76 games, and 65 starts, before he was dealt to Dallas for a seventh-round draft pick Tuesday.

The Cowboys also acquired Williams from the New York Jets for a first-round pick, a second-round pick and DT Mazi Smith.

Wilson is expected to play in Week 11, after the Cowboys’ bye week, when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football at Allegiant Stadium.

Logan Wilson Is Excited To Be In Dallas

Wilson went from playing for the NFL’s 32nd-ranked defense to the league’s No. 31 defense (397.4 yards per game). But he is still ecstatic to be playing for the Cowboys.

“Yeah, for sure. Absolutely,” Wilson said with a smile on his face when asked if he wanted to be in Dallas. “Just looking forward to doing my part to help this team win some games.”

The Cowboys (3-5-1) are in second place in the NFC East but are two games behind the Detroit Lions and would have to hop three other NFC clubs to get into the No. 7 seed. They were beaten up by the Arizona Cardinals in their 27-17 loss at AT&T Stadium on Monday night.

Still, Wilson believes he can alleviate that type of performance with his attitude and tough mindedness.

“Tough, physical, hard-nosed attitude,” Wilson said when asked what he brings to Dallas. “[I] try to make plays on the ball and get the ball back to our offense.”

Logan Wilson Is A Major Upgrade For The Cowboys at Outside Linebacker

The Cowboys’ linebackers have been notoriously bad this season, which is why football czar Jerry Jones targeted that position for an upgrade.

Pro Football Focus gave the Cowboys huge marks for their acquisition of Wilson, since he is considered an upgrade over Shemar James, who ranks 81st among 82 linebackers this season.

Logan Wilson himself has posted a 54.8 PFF grade in 2025, but he has earned marks between 61.5 and 74.6 in every season from 2021 to 2024,” PFF wrote. “At worst, he represents an upgrade over what the Cowboys currently have at linebacker, as their four players with 100 or more defensive snaps this season have earned PFF grades ranging from 39.7 to 56.3.”

Between Wilson and Williams, who ranks seventh among interior defensive linemen this season and is a three-time Pro Bowler, the Cowboys should be able to drastically improve their defense. Dallas will need to do so since it still has a game apiece against the Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings.

“I don’t know much about [Williams]. I just know he’s an incredible player,” Wilson said. “To be able to play behind him is going to be a lot of fun.”
