Lisa Wilkinson announced a shocking new career move on Thursday.

The former Channel Ten star, 65, has written her first historical non-fiction book about a South Australian woman named Evelyn Marsden who survived the Titanic.

The Titanic Story of Evelyn is set to release in April 2026, 114 years after the RMS Titanic sank on 15 April, 1912, after striking an iceberg on its maiden voyage.

‘It’s such a joy and a privilege to be able to bring Evelyn’s extraordinary true story as the only Australian-born survivor of the Titanic—a story few Australians know about—to life,’ Lisa said.

‘Evelyn was a young woman with an adventurous spirit and a passion for selflessly serving others.

‘She lived her life well ahead of the strictures laid out for the women of her time.’

Lisa continued: ‘As a champion rower growing up in South Australia, she strengthened herself by rowing against the tide—literally and figuratively—and I hope that her virtually unknown story of fighting against societal norms, her selfless courage aboard the Titanic, and how she found and then almost lost the great love of her life on that fateful night, will resonate with readers of all ages.’

Evelyn was a champion rower and a nurse who ‘longed to see the world’, getting assigned to the Titanic with her fiancé, who was a ship doctor.

However, Evelyn, who was 28 at the time, ended up sailing solo and became one of the survivors of the tragic sinking, as well as a heroic participant in helping others to safety.

Lisa’s first historical non-fiction book comes after she and husband Peter FitzSimons reportedly paused their hunt for prospective buyers for their Cremorne mansion.

The couple put their sprawling Federation home ‘Ingleneuk’ up for auction in September—with a jaw-dropping reserve price of $24.5 million.

However, despite the listing amassing 44,700 views on realestate.com.au, they still haven’t managed to sell it.

It is believed the couple have not quit their search for homebuyers just yet, with Ingleneuk still on the market, according to The Daily Telegraph earlier this month.

Lisa and Peter, 64, purchased the historic residence in 1998 for just $2.95 million, meaning a sale anywhere near the reserve would deliver them a staggering profit of more than $20 million.

Built in 1903 and restored to its full glory by the couple, the six-bedroom home sits on a sprawling 3,125sqm block with sweeping harbour views, a tennis court, heated pool and manicured gardens.

The pair also snapped up two neighbouring blocks to return the estate to its original size and secure rare dual-frontage—making the Cremorne property one of the Lower North Shore’s most prestigious addresses.

Over the years, the famous couple have hosted a wealth of Aussie celebrities at the property, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Hugh Jackman and Nigella Lawson.

After raising their three children in the impressive property, they are looking to downsize, the Australian Financial Review reported in September.

Last month, the pair were slammed online over the staggering sum they are asking for the home.

Many online commentators criticised the disparity between the media power couple’s wealth and their left-leaning political stances.

‘Progressives Lisa Wilkinson and potential Republic President Peter FitzSimons are selling their house! A steal at $23m! Is Albo appointing them to the UN or something?’ one person wrote on social media.

‘Just a couple of everyday Australian battlers,’ another wrote.

Peter is a strong advocate for Australian republicanism, having previously chaired the Australian Republican Movement.

He has also been vocal regarding his views on green policies and sustainability over the years.
