All good things must come to an end and, unfortunately, this is true even for Lucifer. Although Netflix’s original plan was to conclude its devilishly addictive drama with season 5, fan support was enough to tip the scale in the show’s favor paving the way for Lucifer season 6.

After an incredible fifth season, fans are more eager than ever to learn what’s next for Lucifer, Chole and all of our favorite characters — especially after the season’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger. It doesn’t hurt that season 6 also happens to be the show’s last, leaving fans that much more curious to know how the journeys will end for Lucifer and the entire group of characters we’ve come to know and love over the years.

While an end is in sight, the promise of another season is something that has fans buzzing and hungry for any information about the show’s final season. Here’s what we know so far about Lucifer season 6!

Spoilers ahead for Lucifer season 5

Lucifer season 6 release date

The sixth and final season of Lucifer will premiere on Netflix on Friday, September 10, 2021, less than four months after season 5B dropped.

While we had a sneaking suspicion Netflix was looking to drop the final season of Lucifer sometime in 2021, rather than making fans wait too long between seasons, we have to admit we never anticipated Lucifer season 6 would arrive in early September!

Since making its way to Netflix, new seasons of Lucifer have typically debuted roughly a year apart which had many fans worried Netlfix could hold the final season until as late as summer 2022. Shortly after season 5B dropped, though, co-showrunner Joe Henderson told Word Ballon,  he didn’t anticipate Netflix would “string it out too long” hinting season 6 could be coming sooner than fans anticipated.

Clearly, Henderson was onto something as Netflix has confirmed during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel in July that season 6 will be coming on Sept. 10, meaning we’re only a few weeks away from the final season’s arrival!

Lucifer season 6 cast

A number of cast members have already signed on to return for Lucifer season 6.

As confirmed by What’s On Netflix, the following cast members are all currently on board to return for season 6:

  • Tom Ellis (Lucifer)
  • Lauren German (Chloe)
  • Lesley-Ann Brandt (Maze)
  • Rachael Harris (Linda Martin)
  • Aimee Garcia (Ella Lopez)
  • Kevin Alejandro (Dan Espinoza)
  • Scarlett Estevez (Trixie Espinoza)
  • D.B. Woodside (Amenadiel)

We have a feeling that we might be seeing a few more of the supporting characters in season 6, especially after that season 5 finale.

We expect Inbar Lavi will be back as Eve, and we could see Scott Porter return for season 6, as well.

Fans are also hoping Dennis Haysbert will return as God in season 6, along with Tricia Helfer.

Lucifer season 6 synopsis

So what’s next for Lucifer after he seemingly became God in the season 5B finale? Here is how Netflix officially describes Lucifer season 6:

This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time. The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella and Dan. Bring tissues.

Lucifer season 6 episode count

Lucifer season 6 trailer

Although Netflix has not yet released a full-length trailer for the sixth and final season of Lucifer, we have been given our first teaser for Lucifer season 6!

During the Lucifer Comic-Con@Home panel, Netflix dropped our first teaser for the show’s upcoming final season which intertwined clips of the entire cast in building up the farewell element.

As the clip came to an end, we get what appears to be our first look at Lucifer season 6 in the form of Lucifer being pulled over by an officer. Upon being pulled over, Lucifer apologizes to the officer but it’s what he’s apologizing for that catches our attention: that it’s his last night in LA!
