Carlos is addicted to eating live bugs and likes how they feel when they move in his mouth

A man who eats live bugs every day has admitted he ‘gets a kick’ of how they tickle his throat as he chews them.

Carlos is addicted to eating critters and has been alienated because of his unusual habit.

Now for the first time, he is opening up about why he can’t get enough of them despite being warned by a doctor of the health risks.

Speaking in an exclusive preview clip of My Strange Addiction, Carlos revealed that mealworms are one of his favorite insects to eat because they taste like butter popcorn.

‘They’re just wonderful,’ he gushed. ‘I mean, they look like noodles. They don’t really put up as much of a fight as some other bugs.’

Carlos added that some of the other bugs that he enjoys bite him, but he brushes off their reaction as ‘part of the fun.’

In an attempt to explain the appeal of insects, he said that he likes how they feel when he’s consuming them.

‘I do kind of get a bit of a kick out of that little swarming sensation in my mouth,’ he said. ‘I love how it just tickles my throat.

‘There’s an earthiness, it’s some notes of like buttery, velvety, like some kinds of French cheeses, I would assume. It’s certainly an acquired taste.’

For Carlos, the most rewarding part is when the bugs ‘squiggles around’ in his mouth.

‘You don’t get that from any other kind of food, I guarantee. Maybe octopus if you’re lucky.’

Carlos does eat other foods, but explained to My Strange Addiction producers that he prefers bugs despite the health risks.

‘You are contaminating your body with active parasitic infections’ a doctor warned him in the trailer for the seventh season of the show.

But Carlos defiantly declared that he doesn’t care about the dangers.

Carlos isn’t alone.

It’s estimated that over two billion people also eat insects daily – and many people have done for hundreds of years.

My Strange Addiction returned to TLC with its seventh season just last week and showcases a whole range of addictions.

Kathryn, from Virginia, abandoned chewing her food after a college dare and instead blends and inhales breakfast, lunch and dinner through her nose.

Elsewhere, Wendy, from Florida, reveals her lifelong habit of eating two pounds of raw meat a day.

My Strange Addiction airs Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT.
