Melania Trump looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out to receive this year's White House Christmas tree

Melania Trump looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out to receive this year’s White House Christmas tree.

The 55-year-old appeared at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., earlier today to usher in the holiday season.

Melania wrapped up warm against the cool weather as she greeted the delivery of the 25-foot concolor fir that arrived on a horse-drawn carriage.

She went bare-legged but opted for an understated long cream-colored overcoat that was cinched in at the waist with a belt.

The First Lady then accessorized with a pair of dark red elbow-length gloves and tartan Manolo Blahnik heels in an apparent nod to husband Donald Trump’s Scottish roots.

Melania let her long blonde tresses cascade over her shoulders as she inspected the delivery which she described as ‘beautiful.’

She shook hands with one of the drivers, who was wearing a top hat, and a woman who was standing with the two Clydesdale horses.

The tree came from Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan after it clinched top spot in the National Christmas Tree Association’s contest back in July.

The biannual contest gives Christmas tree growers across the country a chance to have their trees featured in the White House and the Vice President’s residence each festive season.

The tree delivered earlier today will now be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House.

The tree welcoming tradition marks the start of a series of events planned by the First Family in the coming weeks.

On Tuesday, President Trump is set to pardon two North Carolina turkeys, Gobble and Waddle, during a ceremony ahead of Thanksgiving.

Last month, Melania launched the ‘Celebrating America’ ornament line to her website, consisting of ‘limited-edition, handcrafted Christmas ornaments.’

The decorations, which range between $75 to $90, are ‘designed to celebrate America and the upcoming 250th anniversary.’

The items in the collection include decorations featuring the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore as well as a star, an American flag and a star-spangled USA.

Melania’s signature is engraved onto each of the items and purchases include a ‘special 3D animated digital collectible.’

While many people thought the festive decorations were beautiful – and gushed about adorning their trees with them – some slammed the First Lady for the exorbitant cost and urged her to release an affordable range.

Interestingly, back in 2018, Melania was recorded expressing her frustration about getting the White House into the festive spirit, saying, ‘You know, who gives a f**k about Christmas stuff and decoration?’

When Donald Trump was previously in office, Melania decorated the White House with Balsam fir trees that dripped with icicles, which social media users dubbed eerie and cold.

Similarly, she decorated the East Colonnade with 40 bold blood-red trees and draped 14,000 red ornaments throughout the White House.

Although her office stated that the red symbolized ‘valor and bravery,’ the décor quickly earned the nickname ‘murder trees,’ leading to a wave of memes, public backlash, and accusations of being ‘un-American.’
