What could Team USA’s 2030 roster look like?
Before an embarrassing 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues at home, the Minnesota Wild’s Team USA participants were honored pre-game.
While the game was nothing to write home about, the tribute was special. It included 6 Wild coaching staff members, and three players. This included Bill Guerin, John Hynes, Matt Boldy, Quinn Hughes, and Brock Faber.
Bill Guerin also spoke on the recent controversy surrounding the men’s Team USA hockey team. The comments come after their controversial locker room phone call with Donald Trump, White House appearance, and State of the Union appearance.

The Athletic‘s Michael Russo had Bill Guerin’s pre-game comments regarding the recent disparaging of the men’s Team USA hockey team.
“I’m not surprised at anything nowadays. I’m not surprised, but I’m also not letting it bother me. You know what? We just won a Gold Medal. Nothing’s going to ruin this. I don’t care what people say or what they think. That’s one hell of a team. Those kids are all great people, good family men and nothing that anybody could ever say would make me change my mind. I don’t care.”
Team USA came under a lot of fire for a phone conversation with President Trump after their Gold Medal victory. The uproar came up after a joke that some called “distasteful” in which Trump said he had to invite the women’s hockey to the White House or he would be “impeached”.
Players have since clarified their respect for the women’s team, with both teams even teasing the controversy on a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live. Guerin obviously sympathizes for his players as a former player himself.
Guerin was the general manager of Team USA.
Minnesota Isn’t Out of Trocheck Sweepstakes, but Get Concerning Update

MILAN, ITALY – FEBRUARY 22: (L-R) Vincent Trocheck #16, Matthew Tkachuk #19 and Dylan Larkin #21 of Team United States celebrate a 2-1 victory against Canada in overtime for the gold medal during the Men’s Gold Medal match between Canada and the United States on day 16 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic games at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena on February 22, 2026 in Milan, Italy. Sportsnet’s Elliot Friedman recently weighed in on the Trocheck trade rumors. It wasn’t the most inspiring of updates that the Minnesota Wild could’ve gotten.
“I think there’s a couple of far west teams that have gotten in on him, and I’ve been told that it won’t be happening… His preference is east, and a couple of west teams have been told he’s not going out there.”
If the man doesn’t want to go west, he doesn’t want to go west. Thankfully, there may be a light at the end of this tunnel for Bill Guerin and the Wild.
Friedman also brought up the fact that “everyone talks about Minnesota”. Trocheck has arguably been brought up the most in trade conversations when they involve the Wild. “They’re not that far west”, added Friedman. “So, maybe..”
Minnesota’s geographical location may be aiding in this deal for Trocheck. The man is from the great city of Pittsburgh, so it makes sense why he’d want to stay relatively close to home. Unfortunately for the Wild, the Hurricanes are on the east coast, and could use some center help as well.
