Between getting very little sleep and recovering from labor, every new mom knows just how challenging the newborn phase can be.
It’s certainly hard to imagine having another baby when you’re in the thick of it. Now try to imagine adding two more to the equation.
That was the case for Lindsey Campbell, 30, from California, who found out she was pregnant with twins just weeks after giving birth.
Campbell and her husband, Jake, 34, welcomed their son Jackson in May 2024 and were adjusting to their new dynamic as parents of two – they already shared a daughter, named Hayden, who was three at the time – when she noticed that she was feeling nauseous.
At first, she chalked it up to exhaustion but when she discovered some spotting in August, she decided to take a pregnancy test.
‘[Tons of] smells were making me feel sick,’ she recalled during a recent chat with the Daily Mail.
‘Then I realized, uh oh I’m spotting. So I immediately took a test and the line was so pink, like dark pink.
‘So of course I proceeded to take about ten more tests in that pack plus a digital because I didn’t believe what I was seeing.’

To say she was shocked was an understatement.
‘I have never been so surprised and stunned in my life,’ she admitted. ‘I cried! I couldn’t believe it was true. I was in denial because I just had a little baby.
‘We really didn’t think that would happen to us because it took us about seven months to conceive our second baby.’
When Campbell and her husband went in for their first ultrasound, they were hit with even more surprising news: they weren’t just expecting one more baby, they were expecting two.
‘The second the doctor put the ultrasound on my stomach, you could see two sacs/ babies,’ she recalled.
‘My husband was able to see the monitor and saw it immediately. I had to ask what was wrong because he gasped and the doctor turned the screen and I immediately started crying. I saw two!
‘Freshly postpartum with a four-year-old and three-month-old, I just could not believe it was true.’
She recalled feeling terrified, adding: ‘I just went from one child to two. I was still learning how to be a mom of two children, now I was facing going from two to four.

‘I felt like a new mom already and I didn’t know how I was going to juggle it all.’
Campbell explained that her husband is a first responder so he often works 24-hour shifts and is gone ‘several nights a week.’
‘I really didn’t know how I would do solo parenting with four kids under five [on the nights he had to work],’ she continued.
They found out that their due date was May 1, 2025, which means they had conceived in late July, just two months after Jackson was born.
According to Flo.Health, fertility can return as early as four to six weeks postpartum, even before your first period.

The mom-of-four admitted that it’s been ‘the most challenging year of her life,’ but added that she is incredibly grateful for her friends and family members who have stepped in to help.
‘I’ve been pushed to my limits but I have learned so much. Babies are a blessing, but let me tell you, I’m tired,’ she joked.
‘I have some awesome ladies in my neighborhood who help watch my daughter, bring me coffee or help to hold the babies when I need.
She concluded with a warning to others: ‘They are all so much fun, and so precious. But if you decide to do this make sure you have a village.’ Her twins are seen
‘And my mom and dad continuously show up for me if I need it. They love my babies like their own and they always step in to lend a hand and love on them. Without their help, when my husband was gone I couldn’t make it.’
Campbell admitted that some days she ‘truly doesn’t know how she does it.’
The hardest part? Bedtime.
‘Bedtime is challenging because every baby has their needs. I do my best to try to get everyone a happy bedtime but it usually is chaos,’ she admitted.
‘It’s also challenging when all the babies want to be held at once. There’s so many times they are all crying at once.
‘It’s so hard to hold one twin over the other when you know they both need you in the exact moment.’
She concluded with a warning to others: ‘They are all so much fun, and so precious. But if you decide to do this make sure you have a village.’
