Meghan Markle shared a rare glimpse of daughter Lilibet at their Montecito home today after debuting the second season of her Netflix show.

In a sweet clip shared to Meghan’s Instagram, Lilibet, four, examines and kisses a new portrait of the family’s beloved dog Guy, who passed away earlier this year.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed the black-and-white picture of the pet was a ‘morning’ surprise from Prince Harry to mark the release of her second Netflix series – With Love, Meghan.

It comes as the second season of her lifestyle show, which features high-profile guests such as Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and fashion expert Tan France, debuted to a wave of lukewarm reviews.

Yet undeterred, Meghan steamed ahead with her new As Ever product launch today, which was hit with a brief technical glitch as she unveiled her newest products, which includes a £10.38 orange marmalade.

Earlier today, in a short heartwarming video captioned by Meghan: ‘Morning surprise from my husband,’ a barefoot Lilibet still in her pyjamas, can be seen bouncing over to the photo of the beloved pooch and giving it a sweet kiss.

The Duchess of Sussex announced Guy had passed away in a tribute to the ‘sweet’ pooch in January, as she admitted she has cried ‘too many tears to count’.

Her heartfelt message, included photos of Guy huddled up in bed, enjoying cuddles with Harry, and even keeping the Duchess company as she made batches of her famous jam.

‘In Memory of Guy,’ she captioned the post at the time, while urging followers to ‘adopt not shop’.

Meghan adopted Guy from a kill shelter in Canada in 2015, she told her fans at the time.

‘I swooped him up….and fell in love,’ she wrote. ‘They referred to him as “the little guy” because he was so small and frail, so I named him “Guy”. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.’

The second instalment of Meghan’s cooking and lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, dropped on Netflix this morning.

During the show, the Duchess shares intimate details of her family life – from her early dates with Prince Harry and when she fell in love, to their children Archie and Lilibet’s favourite foods and colours.

The Netflix show, which is streaming from today, was filmed last year in a rented home in Montecito, close to the Sussexes’ own mansion.

The first series pulled in 5.3 million views, and was in the top five per cent of Netflix shows for the first half of 2025.

She and Harry signed a five-year contract reported to be worth $100million (£74,119,643) with Netflix but it has since been replaced by a first-look deal which gives the streaming giant first refusal on any shows they create.

Netflix is also funding the couple’s Archewell Productions company.

One proposal said to have been mentioned among a long list of possibilities is a documentary marking the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death in 2027.

The Sussexes’ office this week declined to confirm or deny if that is under consideration.

The show, which released worldwide on Netflix today, has received less-than-glowing reviews – having been dubbed ‘marginally less mad but more needy’ than its predecessor.

The Daily Mail’s Liz Jones branded the new season ‘staged, fake and dull’ – but unlike other critics, commended Meghan for being ‘genuinely earnest’.

The Guardian dismissed the show as ‘so boring’ and ‘so contrived’, while The Telegraph described the Duchess as a ‘Montecito Marie Antoinette’.

The Times was equally cutting, calling the eight-part show ‘a series in search of a meaning, fronted by a woman in need of some cash’.

Royal correspondent Sean Coughlan was one of the few to strike a gentler tone, calling the series a form of escapism: ‘It’s a glass of something sparkling on a grey day.’

But other reviews slammed it as out-of-touch and overproduced, with Radio Times critic Caroline Frost writing that Meghan ‘failed’ to appear ‘authentic’ and criticised the production for being ‘as impersonal as a supermarket ad’.

This is despite Meghan insisting in an hour-long interview with Bloomberg journalist Emily Chang that she is finally embracing her true self after years of royal constraints.

While speaking to Bloomberg’s Emily Chang over smashed burgers and pints of beer, Meghan was asked if there is an ‘inherent tension’ between ‘trying to be relatable’ and also being a Duchess

During the free-wheeling interview ‘on life and business beyond the royal spotlight’, Meghan complained she had to ‘wear nude pantyhose all the time’ during her time as a working royal.

In what appeared to be a thinly veiled swipe at the royal family, the Duchess said that donning the sheer tights ‘felt a little bit inauthentic’ – adding she couldn’t be ‘as vocal’ several years ago.

‘It was different several years ago where I couldn’t be as vocal and I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time!’ Meghan said.

‘Let’s be honest, that was not very myself. I hadn’t seen pantyhose since movies in the 80s! That felt a little bit inauthentic.’

She added: ‘That’s a silly example but it is an example of when you want to dress the way you want to dress and say the things that are true and you’re able to show up in that space really organically and authentically – that’s being comfortable in your own skin. That’s had different chapters in my life.’

Meghan has previously touched on things she had to sacrifice in order to be a royal, such as her lifestyle blog The Tig, which she ditched in April 2017, a few months before her engagement to Harry.

She linked the decision to the immense changes that came with joining the institution.

When relaunching her lifestyle brand As Ever in February, Meghan said: ‘As Ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening – this is what I do.

‘And I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can so, as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first.’

Earlier today, her most recent As Ever product launch was hit with a technical glitch as the Duchess of Sussex unveiled her newest ‘seasonal products’.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, strategically timed the launch of her latest items to coincide with the release of her new eight part series, with Love Meghan, which landed on Netflix this morning.

However, as her new products were launched on the As Ever website it appeared to have experienced a glitch with generic shirts with ‘example product title’ with no descriptions showing on the screen.

Her latest product drop includes a restock of a range of herbal teas – lemon, hibiscus, and peppermint – as well as $9 (£6.67) raspberry spread.

Flower sprinkles, $14 (£10.38) shortbread cookie mix, priced at $14 (£10.38), and a $14 (£10.38) crepe mix also made a return to the As Ever website, with a new orange marmalade in keepsake packaging $14 (£10.38) also making its debut.

Ahead of the release of season two of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess announced in a newsletter that customers would be able to shop some of the brand’s bestsellers  as well as a ‘delectable new fruit spread’.

‘And just to add to the music to your ears, we are excited to share so many more new offerings as we transition to fall,’ Meghan said in the newsletter.

It follows the success of her previous launches, which included wildflower honey, raspberry and apricot spreads, a selection of teas, and even her own 2023 and 2024 Napa Valley Rosé.

Each of her launches have been met with frenzied excitement from her fans, with stock reportedly selling out almost immediately.

The Duchess has leaned heavily into the domestic and artisan aesthetic, with With Love, Meghan showcasing her baking in a sunlit kitchen alongside her celebrity friends.

In one episode, she prepares sourdough for Chrissy Teigen and uses pre-made puff pastry to whip up her version of McDonald’s apple pies with Tan France.

Despite the wholesome imagery, Meghan admits to chef Christina Tosi: ‘Usually, I don’t like baking because it’s so measured.’

Her As Ever range, which first launched in March, includes pre-measured shortbread cookie and crepe mixes — an apparent nod to her desire for a more relaxed approach to home baking.
