Prime Video‘s best movies this weekend come in different genres, but what all three of them have in common is that they are heavily entertaining. After last weekend’s Prime Video movie list went into a specific genre, horror, I thought it was best to come up with a diverse roster this week to provide a fresh set of alternatives to subscribers.
After all, there are many exciting genre movies on Prime Video, and this weekend, I believe that taking on an adventure blockbuster, one of the best comedy movies in years, and an award-winning sports drama will keep the audience on their toes. These are the best movies to watch on Prime Video this weekend:
3
Twisters (2024)
To start the list is Twisters. The sequel to the beloved disaster movie is a standalone film that borrows certain elements from the original. It works to create an updated experience as a group of adrenaline junkies set off to wrangle tornadoes. Like the original, there is room for gut-wrenching moments caused by the tornadoes.
Twisters is also a thrilling affair, led by charismatic stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. Their chemistry is impeccable, and every scene shared by the pair is truly a delight, especially due to how different the determined Kate is from the showboating Tyler. With stars like Superman’s David Corenswet, Ironheart’s Anthony Ramos, and more, Twisters has a strong cast.
2
The Naked Gun (2025)
After taking on the blockbuster, Prime Video subscribers looking for another entertaining movie have to look no further than the new take on The Naked Gun. After decades of iconic action movies under his belt, Liam Neeson turns to comedy to deliver one of the most hilarious experiences I’ve had in recent years.
The Naked Gun’s humor might not be for everyone, but its stupidness and Neeson’s straight delivery of the most absurd jokes make the film feel like a breath of fresh air. Pamela Anderson is also fantastic in the movie, and the film’s snowman sequence is easily one of the biggest surprises 2025 had to offer.
1
Challengers (2024)
Finally, Challengers is set to leave Prime Video on January 18th. As such, there is only one more week to catch the film before it leaves. Challengers became one of the cinematic sensations of 2024, with the sports drama anchored around the complicated dynamic between two friends, Josh O’Connor’s Patrick and Mike Faist’s Art, and Zendaya’s Tashi, the woman both fall for.
Challengers is a sexy, dramatic, and visually stunning romantic story told through the years and with tennis as its backdrop. As a fan of the sport, Luca Guadagnino perfectly manages to make it pop, and the editing on this movie is simply sublime. Prime Video subscribers will not be disappointed.
