You know the drill by now. Each month, Netflix gives and Netflix takes away. That’s how it’s always been with the streaming service’s new releases. On top of the original series and movies that premiere each week and month, we can also expect some great acquisitions from past and present. But it’s a revolving door. Shows are always coming and going.
Throughout 2025, Netflix added some of the best titles from the small screen to its ranks, allowing viewers to rediscover and obsess over shows we might have forgotten over the years. Unfortunately, a few of those shows will be bidding our Netflix watch lists farewell. Don’t worry, though, because there are even more fan-favorite throwback series coming to Netflix in January 2026.
Falling Skies seasons 1-5
- Coming to Netflix on Jan. 1
Kicking off the new year with a real bang, Netflix is getting in on The Pitt’s success by adding its Emmy Award-winning star Noah Wyle’s underrated sci-fi drama series Falling Skies. All five seasons of the Steven Spielberg-produced TNT series arrive week before The Pitt season 2 premieres on HBO Max, giving fans an opportunity to get an extra Wyle fix. In the series, the actor plays a former history professor who uses his knowledge to help lead a group leading the charge after an alien attack wipes out most of humanity. If you missed this one the first time, don’t miss it again!
Lost seasons 1-6
- Leaving Netflix on Jan. 1
Sadly, one of the TV shows leaving Netflix right at the top of the new year is one that’s been in the same sentence as “the best television show of all time.” That’s right, if you didn’t manage to binge-watch Lost while it was available to stream on Netflix, you’re out of luck and will have to move over to Disney+ and/or Hulu. The beloved ABC sci-fi survival drama was added to Netflix last summer as part of a temporary streaming deal with Disney. That temporary streaming deal will end on New Year’s Day. Hopefully, the series could possibly return sometime in the future.
Veronica Mars seasons 1-3
- Coming to Netflix on Jan. 14
A long time ago, we used to be friends with a teenage detective named Veronica Mars. That’s how the world met Kristen Bell, one of the most multi-talented stars of our generation. The teen mystery drama series that launched Bell into superstardom hasn’t been available to stream in quite some time, but the first three seasons of Veronica Mars are coming to Netflix on Jan. 14. (The movie and season 4 are available to stream elsewhere.) Welcome back to Neptune, California, where there’s no crime Veronica can’t solve. It’s dark, it’s funny, it’s twisty, and it’s a can’t-miss throwback binge!
Mr. Robot seasons 1-4
- Leaving Netflix on Jan. 3
Another fan-favorite drama series will be removed from Netflix right at the start of the new year, and that’s the USA Network’s Emmy-winning series Mr. Robot. Unlike some of the other shows on this list, the series starring Rami Malek spent much less time on Netflix. The series only just came to the streamer in July 2025, but after less than half a year, the series will be leaving and heading elsewhere. Currently, the show isn’t available on another major streaming service, but fingers crossed that it lands one soon for fans to continue watching the pulse-pounding thriller.
Rizzoli & Isles seasons 1-7
- Coming to Netflix on Jan. 20
If you have been missing Rizzoli & Isles since the TNT procedural drama’s conclusion in 2016, there’s great news in store. The series has finally landed a major streaming home and will be coming to Netflix on Jan. 20. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star in the crime drama about a detective and a medical examiner teaming up to solve cases. All seven seasons and 106 episodes of Rizzoli & Isles will be added at the end of January, and it’s bound to be the next show to experience a resurgence in popularity. Start 2026 with a lengthy binge-watch, whether it’s for the first time or a rewatch!
