1

‘Duster’ (2025)

Rotten Tomatoes: 93% | IMDb: 7.3/10

Created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, Duster is a crime thriller series set in 1972 starring Josh Holloway, Rachel Hilson, and Keith David. The series follows Nina Hayes (Hilson), the FBI’s first Black woman agent, who teams up with expert getaway driver Jim Ellis (Holloway) to take down a growing Southwestern crime syndicate led by the charismatic Ezra Saxton (David). The show also features Asivak Koostachin, Sydney Elisabeth, Benjamin Charles Watson, Camille Guaty, Adriana Aluna Martinez, and Greg Grunberg in other lead roles.

Anchored by Holloway’s charming performance in the lead role, Duster premiered in May 2025 to positive reviews from critics. Unfortunately, not a lot of people watched it, and the show was canceled after just one season. Despite its premature end, the series is a fun modern take on classic ’70s thrillers, with an enjoyable retro aesthetic, great characters, and some really cool vintage cars, including the gorgeous 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 that lends the show its name.

2

‘Somebody Somewhere’ (2022 – 2024)

Rotten Tomatoes: 100% | IMDb: 8.2/10

Created by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, Somebody Somewhere is a comedy-drama series that follows a 40-something woman navigating life after the death of her sister. Set in the small town of Manhattan, Kansas, the show stars Bridget Everett as the lead character Sam, following her various attempts to rebuild her life, reconnect with her remaining family, and find new friendships. The series also features Jeff Hiller, Mary Catherine Garrison, Danny McCarthy, Mike Hagerty, Murray Hill, Jane Drake Brody, Jon Hudson Odom, and Heidi Johanningmeier in key roles.

Somebody Somewhere premiered in January 2022 to universal acclaim and ran for three seasons in total, all of which have been well-received by critics and fans. A heartwarming but underrated dramedy, the series presents a wonderful small-town story with quirky characters and deep explorations of complex themes like grief and belonging. A grounded, comforting watch anchored by its charming performances, the show has earned several accolades and was included in the American Film Institute’s list of Top 10 Television Programs of 2022.

3

‘My Adventures With Superman’ (2023 – Present)

Rotten Tomatoes: 98% | IMDb: 7.7/10

An animated superhero show following the legendary Man of Steel in his early years as a hero, My Adventures With Superman was developed by Jake Wyatt and is animated by the award-winning South Korean animation studio, Studio Mir. Starring Jack Quaid as the voice of Superman / Clark Kent, the show explores the beginnings of his career, his relationship with Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and his friendship with Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid). The series also features Joel de la Fuente, Darrell Brown, Michael Emerson, Kiana Madeira, Jason Marnocha, Max Mittelman, Chris Parnell, Reid Scott, Rhea Seehorn, and more in recurring voice roles.

My Adventures With Superman premiered on Adult Swim in July 2023 to universal acclaim, then repeated that success with its second season, released in 2024. Combining anime stylings with a wholesome narrative drawn from the character’s classic stories, the show is a lighthearted, kid-friendly take on Superman with enjoyable storylines and endearing characters. It’s arguably the best series adaptation of the iconic character we’ve seen in recent years and a must-watch for fans of classic superhero stories. The show was officially renewed for a third season in June 2024, and a spin-off series, My Adventures With Green Lantern, is currently in development.
