As summer 2026 finally begins to take shape, these five brand-new Netflix shows officially rank among the very best to watch this week, June 29–July 3. Currently, Netflix’s most-watched shows include the new Harlan Coben thriller I Will Find You, season 2 of the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the new K-drama spy series Agent Kim Reactivated.
While these shows lead Netflix’s global charts at the moment, the following five shows are also worth checking out ahead of the July 4 weekend. Between the final season of a quirky comedy show, a brand new comedy series set in India, the return of one of Netflix’s biggest true crime franchises, a French murder mystery thriller set in 1936, and a conspiracy thriller featuring supernatural elements, there’s something new for everyone to enjoy on Netflix right now.
Survival Of The Thickest
The third and final season of the Netflix original comedy series Survival of the Thickest arrives on Netflix this Thursday, July 2. Featuring eight new episodes, Survival of the Thickest season 3 will complete the series with a total of 24 episodes, each 28 minutes or less. Co-created by and starring Michelle Buteau, the series follows a black, plus-sized, and newly single woman named Marvis who is forced to rebuild her life after betting everything on an unreliable man. Marvis navigates her new normal in the vibrant streets of New York City, where she works as a stylist who hopes to make it big in the fashion world.
Super Subbu
Super Subbu is a new original series from Netflix India that premieres this Thursday, July 2. The comedy follows Subbu, a young man who can never seem to catch a break, as he secretly takes on a job as a sex-ed teacher in a rural village. Subbu does so to combat his father’s strict, even conservative, parenting style and expectations about relationships and sex, finally choosing to put himself first and explore his own romantic identity. Super Subbu takes a comedic approach to this subject matter in a similar vein to Big Mouth and is worth a watch this week for all comedy fans.
Worst Neighbor Ever
Worst Neighbor Ever is Netflix’s latest installment of its Worst Ever true crime franchise, joining Worst Ex Ever and Worst Roommate Ever. The new 4-part docuseries will arrive this Wednesday, July 1, and will chronicle several true stories about nightmarish situations between neighbors, ranging from fraud schemes to acts of violence, using actual footage and firsthand accounts. Considering the success of the previous Worst Ever series on Netflix, Worst Neighbor Ever should be one of the most popular new releases this week, especially since it’s so easy to binge with just four episodes.
Summer ’36
Summer ’36 is another intriguing murder mystery series that arrives on Netflix this Wednesday, July 1. Set in Nice, France, in the year 1936, four women become involved in a vicious murder at the Riviera Hotel, one of the most renowned resorts on the French Riviera. Based on real events, paid workers receive their first paid holiday when the show begins, which unsettles the bourgeoisie as a wave of new vacationers enter. Summer ’36 will span just six episodes, making it ideal for a quick mid-week binge this week, especially for fans of thrillers and murder mysteries set in idyllic settings, similar to the new Netflix series Oasis and HBO’s The White Lotus.
Human Vapor
Human Vapor is one of the most exciting new releases on Netflix this week, set to arrive on Thursday, July 2. A reimagining of the 1960 classic movie The Human Vapor, this dark crime thriller series follows a man who robs banks with a supervillain-like ability to turn into a gaseous state. This series will mark the first official collaboration between Netflix and Toho, the acclaimed Japanese entertainment studio best known for spawning the Godzilla franchise. With 8 gripping episodes, moody atmosphere, and a fascinating premise, Human Vapor is ScreenRant’s top pick for the best new show to watch on Netflix this week.
