7 Days Before ‘The Madison’ Premieres, Watch Kurt Russell’s Most Brutal 168-Minute Western

Kurt Russell is soon to make his debut in a Taylor Sheridan-penned show with The Madison, the Yellowstone spin-off co-starring Michelle Pfeiffer. Russell is also busy working with his son Wyatt Russell on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the Apple TV series spun off of the popular MonsterVerse franchise from Legendary and Warner Bros. Wyatt and Kurt Russell play different versions of the same character in the series, which is certainly part of what drew fans to watch it in the first place — that and the giant smashing monsters. Russell has been acting in great movies and TV shows for almost 50 years now, but somehow, an Emmy or Oscar win has evaded him. He’s never even been nominated for an Oscar in his career, which is something the Academy should amend before he retires.

While Russell is set to get out his lasso in the new Taylor Sheridan Western soon, it won’t be the first time he’s ventured into the genre. 11 years ago, Russell teamed up with Samuel L. Jackson and Walton Goggins for The Hateful Eight, the Western thriller set in the dead of Wyoming, following a bounty hunter and his prisoner who find shelter in a cabin occupied by eight hateful nefarious characters. The film grossed over $160 million at the global box office against a relatively modest $44 million budget, and it earned scores of 74% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It was directed by Quentin Tarantino, who is also famous for his work on Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Over 10 years after it first hit theaters, The Hateful Eight is one of the most popular purchases on VOD platforms around the world.

When Does ‘The Madison’ Come Out?

The Madison will be released on Paramount+ on March 14. It’s not even the first Yellowstone spin-off to hit the platform this month, either. That title belongs to Marshals, formerly titled Y: Marshals, which follows Kaycee Dutton (Luke Grimes) now that he’s left the Yellowstone ranch behind to become a U.S. Marshal. The Madison has already been renewed for Season 2, and although lacking an official release date, it’s expected to air sometime later this year or early 2027.

Check out The Hateful Eight on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV in America, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of The Madison.
