A Brand New Anime Just Overthrew One of Crunchyroll’s Biggest Shows Just 1 Month After Its Release

This summer saw the release of one of the best anime series of the year, which, of course, has since been streaming on Crunchyroll. Produced by Bones Film and directed by Fumihiko Suganuma, Gachiakuta premiered on July 6, 2025, in Japan, where seven episodes have aired so far, with the eighth expected in two days. Fans may recall that, immediately upon its debut, the dystopian anime was one of the most popular on streaming charts, racing to the top a few days ago and surpassing some older favorites, such as Solo Leveling. However, that’s about to change as a spanking new anime has overthrown the streaming favorite in a pretty unexpected move.
