A Fan-Favorite Star Wars Alum Is Manifesting a Return to the Galaxy Far, Far Away [Exclusive]

For Billie Lourd, Star Wars is part of her DNA. The daughter of the late Carrie Fisher grew up under the scrawling letters from a galaxy far, far away and, in time, would become part of the endless universe itself as part of her breakthrough into feature-length productions. After making her grand debut in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Resistance fighter Kaydel Ko Connix, Lourd’s character returned for another go around in the film’s 2017 sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and once again to round things out with 2019’s trilogy capper, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While Kaydel Ko Connix isn’t expected to make an appearance in any of the many Star Wars projects that are on the docket, Lourd is not just willing, but incredibly hopeful that she’ll have the chance to reprise her role and maybe even bring some friends along for the ride.

During a conversation with Collider’s Taylor Gates in support of her upcoming film, Adulthood, Lourd began manifesting a return to the beloved franchise with the addition of her co-stars Kaya Scodelario, Josh Gad, and Anthony Carrigan. As the crew chatted about what franchise they’d join if they had their pick, the overarching answer was Star Wars. “Star Wars is a franchise I would play in,” said Gad, who is currently working on a Spaceballs sequel. “Yeah, Star Wars,” Scodelario agreed. “Or the Lego movies! I’d like to be the voice of one of the Legos. There’s Lego Star Wars stuff, so we could even combine them and make all of your dreams come true.” After both Gad and Scodelario threw their hats into the ring for the sprawling galactic universe, in a separate chat, Lourd chimed in with an incredibly relatable, “I mean, more Star Wars, more life.”

As the conversation continued, Carrigan also hopped on board the good ship Adulthood/Star Wars crossover, adding, “This is the universe that I want to be a part of, but with the caveat that it has to be this cast.” Doubling down on her previous response, Lourd said, “I’m available,” further bolstering our hopes for the actress’ potential Star Wars return down the line.

‘Adulthood’ Sees Billie Lourd Return to Comedy

While we love dreaming about Lourd’s hopeful Star Wars reprisal, her work in Adulthood sees her get back to her comedic roots. After all, before originating the role of Kaydel Ko Connix, Lourd made her industry debut in Ryan Murphy’s short-lived horror comedy series, Scream Queens, and followed her first two Star Wars films with a show-stopping performance in Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart. As for her role in Adulthood, Lourd appears as Grace, the blackmail-happy caregiver to the mother of Gad and Scodelario’s characters. Spotting the opportunity to make a little extra money, Grace uses info she knows about a hidden body in her client’s basement in exchange for a $25,000 payout.

Adulthood is now playing in select cinemas across the country.
