A Thousand Tomorrows Is The Perfect Watch While Awaiting Virgin River S 7

Virgin River season 7 has reportedly finished filming, but while waiting for the new season to premiere, Netflix’s trending new series is a great romantic Western to watch in the meantime. After Virgin River season 6’s ending set up plenty of new challenges for Mel, Jack, and the rest of the town, the wait for more episodes has become excruciating.

Luckily, before season 6 even premiered, Virgin River was renewed for season 7, and the series has since been confirmed for season 8. With 22 books currently in the Virgin River series, the Netflix show still has room to grow beyond its renewed allotment. However, while waiting for the upcoming chapters to finally air on the streaming service, a trending new show on Netflix with some notable similarities will help bide the time.

A Thousand Tomorrows Is Very Reminiscent Of Virgin River

The recent series A Thousand Tomorrows is currently gaining attention on Netflix with audiences in the US, proving once again how popular the romance Western genre is on the streaming service. The series initially aired on PureFlix, a faith-centered service, two years ago, but its 2025 premiere on Netflix’s streaming library has made A Thousand Tomorrows a bigger success.

The series follows bull rider Cody Gunner and barrel racer Ali Daniels, who grow to have an intense love for each other. However, things are complicated by the secrets that they keep and the sorrows of their pasts. Despite these struggles, A Thousand Tomorrows weaves a romantic and heartfelt story of the pair finding each other.

A Thousand Tomorrows has a perfect blend of the similar small-town lifestyle and great romantic chemistry that Virgin River is well-known for. Being based on a Christian romance novel, faith is a more central theme in the trending series, but the overall tone of the two shows are fairly similar and may appeal to the same Virgin River fans.

A Thousand Tomorrows Could Become Netflix’s Proper New Virgin River Successor

Given the current success of Virgin River and its renewal through season 8, the series will likely remain Netflix’s most successful small-town romance show. A Thousand Tomorrows could follow in its footsteps, though, giving the streaming service an even more impressive catalog in the genre.

Much like Robyn Carr’s books that provide the inspiration for the Netflix Original series, A Thousand Tomorrows is based on the Cody Gunner book series by Karen Kingsbury. The series is currently made up of A Thousand Tomorrows and its follow-up Just Beyond the Clouds, which would provide the focus for at least one more season.

Even though there is only one more book in the series, a show focused on Cody Gunner has plenty of potential to continue beyond its source material. Shows about small-town living and Western lifestyles can easily shift focus to new characters and problems, and A Thousand Tomorrows could do the same if needed.

While the series didn’t find as substantial mainstream popularity upon its original release, its addition to Netflix could make a renewal more likely. With new audiences checking out A Thousand Tomorrows for the first time, it could make sense to adapt the next book in the series, especially given the success of similar shows like Virgin River.
