A new hopeful update about Apple TV‘s most-watched sci-fi of all time, Pluribus, almost confirms it will not repeat an annoying streaming trend.
Apple TV’s Pluribus was met with high expectations from viewers because of Vince Gilligan’s history of delivering one incredible show after another. Given how Pluribus is officially Apple TV’s most-watched sci-fi show and boasts a nearly perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, it is fair to say that it lived up to everyone’s expectations and even surpassed them.
However, after Pluribus season 1’s ending, there were concerns surrounding the show’s return and production timeline. Fortunately, a new update confirms that Pluribus is on the right path towards not repeating an increasingly concerning streaming trend.
Rhea Seehorn’s Pluribus Season 2 Update Is Great News For The Apple TV Show
Soon after Pluribus season 1 ended, Vince Gilligan said he was in no hurry to kick off the Apple TV sci-fi show’s season 2’s production. This raised many discussions about the show’s potentially slow production and how it was repeating the annoying trend of leaving long gaps between seasons like many shows in the streaming era. Fortunately, a new update from Rhea Seehorn (via CBR) confirms that Pluribus season 2’s production is already in full swing.
The Emmy-winning actress confirmed that Pluribus‘ team is already back in the writers’ room, and they are trying to proceed with it as fast as they can.
When Gilligan previously said he was not in a hurry, even Stephen King expressed his concerns by saying that he is “not getting any younger.” Rhea Seehorn’s update, however, eases these concerns and suggests that Pluribus season 2 will be out sooner than expected. Considering its ambition and storytelling vision, it will still take Pluribus season 2 some time to fully come together.
However, the fact that its production has already started suggests that viewers can expect the Apple TV sci-fi show to return in less than two years.
Pluribus Could Really Benefit From Shorter Waiting Periods Between Seasons
While many agree that Pluribus deserves to be touted as 2025’s best sci-fi show, some viewers were not happy with the show’s pace in season 1. Viewers unanimously agreed that its slow-burn storytelling allowed them to truly immerse themselves in Carol and Manousos’ world and helpless situation. However, many could not help but complain about how the show’s narrative momentum was cut short by its limited 9-episode runtime.
Put simply, according to many, Pluribus just did not cover enough narrative ground in season 1 despite doing enough to intrigue and grip audiences with its post-apocalyptic mysteries.
While this does not necessarily harm the series, it could be a problem if the show’s season 2 does not come out soon. From the looks of it, though, Apple TV’s Pluribus will only get better with its upcoming season because it will likely get a timely release. Also, Vince Gilligan’s shows are known for getting more and more gripping as they progress, which almost guarantees the Apple TV show’s next installment will not disappoint.
