Bass Reeves streaming on Netflix? (where to watch)

Taylor Sheridan is known for creating popular shows like Yellowstone and Tulsa King, and now he’s back as an executive producer on a new series – Lawmen: Bass Reeves. And it’s right up his wheelhouse! The production is another Western. Is it streaming on Netflix?

Unfortunately, no. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is not streaming on Netflix. The series will be available to watch on another platform, and that’s Paramount+. Below, we share how you can tune in and what the episode release schedule looks like.

Leading man David Oyelowo, who plays the titular character, also serves as an executive producer. Joining him onscreen are Lauren E. Banks as Bass’ wife Jennie Reeves; Demi Singleton as Bass’ daughter Sally Reeves; Forrest Goodluck as Billy Crow; Dennis Quaid as Sherrill Lynn; Barry Pepper as Esau Pierce; and Donald Sutherland as Judge Isaac Parker.

While it’s not on Netflix, that doesn’t mean you’re not interested in watching the Western. It’s definitely an intriguing story! So, how can you do so on Paramount+? Read on below to find out!

How to watch Lawmen: Bass Reeves

Lawmen: Bass Reeves premieres Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, with the first two episodes on Paramount+. Then going forward, one new installment will be released weekly until the finale on Dec. 17, 2023. There’s a total of eight episodes. If you don’t already have a subscription to the service, it costs $5.99/month with ads or $11.99/month without ads. We provided a breakdown of the episode release schedule below:

  • Episode 1 – Nov. 5
  • Episode 2 – Nov. 5
  • Episode 3 – Nov. 12
  • Episode 4 – Nov. 19
  • Episode 5 – Nov. 26
  • Episode 6 – Dec. 3
  • Episode 7 – Dec. 10
  • Episode 8 – Dec. 17

The series is centered around the titular character, of course, Bass Reeves (Oyelowo). He becomes “the most legendary lawman in the Old West” as he rises from being a slave to the first Black law enforcement officer in Mississippi, per the synopsis. U.S. Marshal Reeves has had a successful career arresting over 3,000 outlaws, but “the weight of the badge” has been heavy on him morally and spiritually, as well as on his “beloved family.”

The story and character are based on the real-life Bass Reeves who lived from 1838 – 1910. The project also serves as an anthology series, in which plans for other shows about “iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history” are in the works, per a press release. I mean, if Sheridan is behind this, then I’m sure it will be a success and definitely lead to future productions.
