Bleach’s Final Season Will Transform the Series With New Original Content

Jump Festa is one of the biggest events in the world of anime, and this year, Bleach’s creator Tite Kubo had some exciting news. There are always some exciting things surrounding Jump Festa, but nobody saw Kubo’s latest reveal coming.

Bleach has been one of the biggest names in anime since it first came out over two decades ago, and somehow, its status as one of the greatest hasn’t changed. Even though the final season of the hit series is on the way, Bleach hasn’t lost any of the momentum that has made it great.

After two anime series, several movies, and plenty of video games, Bleach will finally conclude in 2026. Bleach has cemented itself as one of the greatest anime series of all time, influencing the shōnen genre in a way only a handful of franchises can compare to.

Bleach is one of the original Big Three of shōnen, next to Naruto and One Piece. Each of these series set the standard for what a shōnen can be, defining the genre permanently.

Bleach’s original series ended in 2012, and it wasn’t until 2022 that the series finally saw its resurgence through Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Thousand-Year Blood War might be Bleach at its very best: the animation is absurdly good, the stakes have never been higher, and the series features some of the best fights in anime.

Bleach’s finale has been something fans have looked forward to for literal decades. Now that the series is concluding, there’s a lot of pressure on both Kubo and Studio Pierrot to get it right, and interestingly, Kubo still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

In a recent presentation at Jump Festa, Bleach’s creator Tite Kubo announced that Bleach’s final season will include anime-original content that isn’t found in the manga whatsoever.

There’s also some original content this time (not in the manga), and those parts personally have me quite curious about how they’ll play out. – Tite Kubo

Even Kubo doesn’t know how the anime-original content will play out, making it even more interesting. There’s no telling what exactly Bleach’s creator felt necessary to include in the final season, but either way, it’s going to be one of the biggest seasons in anime for a generation.
