The Game Awards 2025 is rapidly approaching its scheduled date on Thursday, December 11, and the usual swirl of rumors has finally caught up to it. The most hotly anticipated tease, however, has been “stirred” by Geoff Keighley and The Game Awards: an ominous statue in the Mojave Desert, which some fans have been trying to connect to Bloodborne.
There isn’t much that’s hypothesized to be on the horizon beyond what fans already know, such as The Elder Scrolls 6, a new Mass Effect game, and at least a couple of entries into Star Wars’ video game landscape. Still, hype rises as fans pray this IRL monolith teases a Game Awards Bloodborne 2 reveal.
Is The Game Awards Teasing Bloodborne 2?
Because the desire for a Bloodborne 2 is constantly brimming, it isn’t surprising that FromSoftware’s cosmic horror action-RPG has had its name thrown into the mix of what game or IP The Game Awards’ statue tease may be referencing. For instance, Twitter/X user Pyo explains the hype of Bloodborne fairly succinctly when describing that it’s at the peak of what anyone could hope to see from an event like The Game Awards:
Anything related to Bloodborne, whether a remaster, remake, or sequel, seems like a pipe dream at this point. As Twitter/X user JaePlayzGamez states, the reaction could well be that fans will “be so pissed” if the menacing obelisk doesn’t turn out to be Bloodborne-related.
Indeed, regardless of the event, Bloodborne has mutated into what Hollow Knight: Silksong was before its launch, and will be mentioned and clamored for until something is announced. How long that may take to occur, though, is anyone’s guess.
We’d Be Amazed If That’s What It Was
Now, as devil’s advocate, Bloodborne 2 might not be the most outlandish reveal. It’s incredibly unlikely, and fans should always be sure to take any Bloodborne-related rumors and speculation with a grain of salt, but “bleeds” being in The Game Awards’ redacted Twitter/X post is the closest that anyone might get to an answer until Thursday.
This certainly would be the level of hype that a Bloodborne sequel deserves, even if nothing could appropriately prepare Game Awards attendees and remote viewers for a reveal of that scale.
As it stands, there is nothing concretely tethering The Game Awards’ cryptic tease to Bloodborne, let alone any game, for that matter, with fans scrambling to jam the pieces together and make sense of the statue. The most compelling argument made thus far is that it relates to Housemarque’s Saros, but it’s also equally possible that its purpose is to reveal a new IP and stump anyone who believes it has a connection to any established franchise or game.
