Boston Blue’s Jamie, Eddie, & Baby Cameos Addressed By Creator

Boston Blue viewers have been eager to see some of their favorite Blue Bloods characters appear on the spinoff show, and their wish may finally be granted.

Fans of the original show have wanted to see the return of Jamie Reagan (Will Estes), Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray), and their baby appear on Boston Blue. Those hopes have only escalated since the Blue Bloods spinoff hinted that previously unseen members of the Reagan family would show up in the series.

In the final season of Blue Bloods, Jamie and Eddie announced that they were expecting. However, the child was never shown on screen in the flagship show. In an interview with TV Insider, series creator Brandon Margolis teased that the audience will almost certainly see the mysterious child in the future. He coyly said, “There is a non-zero percent chance we will see the baby in season 1 of Boston Blue.”

While most would think it’s safe to assume that the child would be accompanied by the parents, Margolis remained vague. He explained that he wasn’t allowed to reveal that information, telling the publication that he “cannot confirm or deny” their presence in the latter half of Boston Blue season 1.

The creator revealed that because Boston Blue got renewed for a second season, it opens up so many more doors for old characters to return. Margolis said that he didn’t want to spoil anything for the audience, so he couldn’t say who may or may not show up in season 2. However, he did explain that he and the creative team are working out ways to fit characters from Blue Bloods into the narrative of its spinoff. He added that as long as there is a good reason for any of the original characters to appear in the show, he would be more than happy to write them in.

What I will say is that because the audiences showed up and the network was generous enough to give us a second season, there’s going to be more opportunities for Reagans for a whole other season, and it’s something we want to continue to pursue on the show. Obviously, there were a lot of them, but the invitations are extended, and we are just looking for the right stories to bring them into Danny and Sean’s world. That’s kind of all I can say at the moment without spoiling too much.

Additionally, other Blue Bloods veterans have been confirmed to return. Bridget Moynahan is set to reprise her role as Erin Reagan-Boyle during the second part of Boston Blue season 1, and she will also direct one of the upcoming episodes. Len Cariou, who portrayed Henry Reagan, Danny’s (Donnie Wahlberg) grandfather, in Blue Bloods, will also guest star in the spinoff.

Boston Blue season 1 airs new episodes on Fridays at 10:00 PM ET and 7:00 PM PT on CBS.
