After falling just short of $30 million at the global box office, Channing Tatum’s new hit action comedy is finally coming to streaming. Paramount+ has announced that Roofman will begin streaming on the platform on December 9. The film also stars Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man) and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), and it tells the shockingly hilarious true story of Jeffrey Manchester (Tatum), a man who develops the moniker Roofman after he breaks into several stores by cutting a hole in the roof. He finds himself living in the attic of a Toys “R” Us while he’s on the run from the authorities.
Roofman may have only grossed $28 million at the global box office, but things aren’t all that bad for Paramount. The film cost only $19 million to make, meaning that while Roofman fell slightly short of its break-even point, it also was impossible for the film to lose a fortune. It also helps that it earned strong reviews from both critics and audiences, with some even going as far as to say it’s one of Tatum’s finest performances. The film sits at scores of 86% from critics and 85% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s destined to become a streaming success upon its premiere.
Derek Cianfrance wrote the script for Roofman, and he also directed the film. Kirt Gunn even contributed to the script as well. In addition to starring in the film, Tatum also earned a producing credit for his work on Roofman. Tatum’s history as a producer goes back years, and he’s now earned more than 50 producing credits. Before Roofman, Cianfrance worked with Mark Ruffalo on the HBO limited series I Know This Much Is True, which co-stars Kathryn Hahn.
Channing Tatum Is Returning to Marvel in 2026
Channing Tatum had one of the biggest movie moments last year when he finally suited up as Gambit on the big screen in Deadpool & Wolverine. This became such a pop culture moment that Marvel decided to bring back Tatum for the 2026 event film, Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently slated for release on December 18, 2026. It’s unclear if Tatum’s Gambit will survive the film and go on to feature in Secret Wars, but he’s quickly becoming a fan-favorite. A solo project could even be in store for the card-dealing mutant.
Be sure to check out Roofman when it begins streaming on Paramount+ on December 9 and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
