Chester's Quiz Answers for Arcade and Nightmare Modes

In That’s Not My Neighbor, you’ll have the chance to inspect several strange characters coming through your security window, in the hopes of narrowing down those that might secretly be Doppelgangers. One of the individuals you’ll have the pleasure of getting to know is Chester, a man who turns the tables on you and forces you to answer his questions instead.

Given that this random encounter is a bit of a reversal of what you’re used to, it can lead to a rare hidden achievement/trophy if you manage to answer everything correctly. However, it won’t be easy, and you’ll never know when Chester is coming through your window, so you’ll need to be prepared at all times.

When Does Chester Appear?

Unlike many of the other characters in the game, whose patterns you can start to predict over time, Chester is a random encounter that could happen at any time during your playthrough. That being said, Chester is guaranteed to show up on your first playthrough of each Game Mode, but it can still be hard to anticipate his arrival at your window.

Thankfully, Chester is pretty easy to spot, but his appearance does vary slightly between the different game modes. In Arcade Mode, Chester is a man wearing a red plaid button-up jacket with a white T-shirt that has a peace sign on it. The red headband and silver hair should also be a good indicator of Chester, along with his thousand-yard stare.

During Nightmare Mode in That’s Not My Neighbor, Chester has a similar look to the Arcade mode version, only this time, he almost looks like a zombie with pale skin and sharp teeth. His jacket has blood splattered across it, and his eyes have almost glowing pupils and deep shadows to create a more horrifying appearance for the character.

Use Your Memory To Pass The Test

When Chester arrives at your window, he won’t offer any documents or even want to get into the building you guard. Instead, Chester will ask you six questions about random trivia, but the content of those inquiries is the same every time he appears. However, the questions between Arcade and Nightmare modes do differ, with the latter being a bit tougher.

Both instances of Chester’s Quiz have questions that are not multiple choice, with minimal clues scattered during encounters with other characters. This quiz is meant to be taken multiple times as you start to recognize the clues and get the answers through playing.

If you answer even a single question incorrectly by getting the answer wrong or misspelling the right response, Chester will leave immediately. You won’t be able to take another stab at the questions until Chester shows up again, which is impossible to predict. Answering a question correctly moves on to the next question and so on until you’ve completed all five.

You will need to submit all your answers through a typing box, so be careful doing this and make sure to double-check your answer before submitting it. A right answer could easily be marked incorrect if you make an accidental typo.

The answers to the questions Chester asks during his quiz on Arcade Mode are:

“What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything else?”

Uranus

“According to F.S.M. global warming is a consequence of the fact that since the 19th century the number of ______ decreased.”

Pirates

Keep in mind, there are two versions of That’s Not My Neighbor floating around as well. If you’re playing the older version from itch.io, then your questions and subsequent answers should match those listed in the table above. However, if you’re playing the updated remake on Steam, then the questions and answers will be different.

The answers to the questions Chester asks during his quiz on Arcade Mode, for the updated Steam version, are:

Quiz Question

Answer

“In what year was the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything published?”

Unlike the previous quiz, Chester will only have five questions to ask you in this version, and since most of them involve relatively long numbers, be sure to input your answers carefully.

Be Prepared For Harder Questions

The Nightmare Mode hosts evil versions of characters and their Doppelgangers that you may have already met, with Chester being no exception. While in Arcade Mode, Chester always asked the same questions in the same order every time he appeared. In this mode, Chester asks a new set of questions in his Quiz, with many being much harder to solve than the other trivia brain-teasers you were given before.

Although more challenging, there are only six questions, and like the Arcade Mode ones, they are always asked in the same order. So you can still learn and adjust to Chester’s Quiz as you continue your Nightmare Mode playthrough. The answers to each of his questions on this difficulty are:

Quiz Question

Answer

“Last name of the man behind the true face of the mask most known to internet users.”

Fawkes

“Which number would give you the victory in a contest of writing the largest number with the conventional rules of the Roman numeral system?”

MMMDCCCLXXXVIII

“Name the hairiest lieutenant of World War II.”

Wojtek

“Temple where once a god caused the largest pandemic ever seen in all the great dark and beyond.”

Zul’Gurub

“Clave name of the multicellular organism with the ability to clone anything it touches with its rhizome.”

SCP-038 OR SCP038

“How many numbers are formed with the digits of the cardinality of the parts of a set with the first perfect and happy number of elements?”

45360

As you can see, there are a few more pop culture references in the Nightmare mode questions, from ones referring to World of Warcraft to others connected to the SCP Foundation collaborative horror writing project. Those with knowledge of these subjects may be able to answer these pieces of trivia right away, but don’t be too discouraged if you aren’t able to find the right answer quickly.

Answering all the questions asked in Nightmare Mode correctly will give you an even rarer badge and the “Prodigious Mind” achievement/trophy. Aside from these achievements and rewards, there are no other gameplay changes to your playthrough for answering all of Chester’s questions correctly in either mode.

The achievement of having every answer to Chester’s Quiz in That’s Not My Neighbor mainly serves as a personal and literal badge of honor you can use for bragging rights to your friends who have also played this immersive game.
