Chris Pratt is one of the most successful action stars in the world, but it didn’t always look like that was the path for his career. His latest sci-fi release with Rebecca Ferguson, Mercy, struggled to get off the ground at the box office, but he’s set to turn things around with a new Apple TV movie later this year. Pratt also has plenty of experience as a blockbuster leader with his work in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, which has allowed him to become one of the most successful box office stars of all time. Pratt is even the headlining figure of Prime Video’s Terminal List franchise, which is being positioned as the platform’s Reacher alternative with a much darker twist.
The Terminal List wasn’t the first time that Chris Pratt took his talent to a Prime Video project, though. In 2021, Pratt teamed up with Yvonne Strahovski and J.K. Simmons for The Tomorrow War, the big-budget sci-fi film following a family man who travels forward in time to the year 2051 to join in humanity’s war against a deadly alien species that threatens to wipe out all life on Earth. The film was produced by Paramount Pictures and Skydance, but the studio dumped it to Prime Video, where it was released straight to streaming despite its $200 million budget. Now, all these years later, the film is still aging well in the eyes of audiences around the world. It’s charting in the Prime Video top 10 in several countries. The Tomorrow War earned scores of 51% from critics and 76% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Is Amazon Making Another ‘Tomorrow War’ Movie?
Amazon has revealed that it’s working on a sequel to The Tomorrow War. Back in February of last year, writer Zach Dean confirmed that he finished writing the script for the film, but updates on production or a potential release window have been silent since. Pratt has been extremely busy working on the second season of The Terminal List, but now that his schedule is clearing up, he may just have the time to start shooting the sci-fi sequel. It’s expected that The Tomorrow War 2 will dive into the origins of the alien species known as the White Spikes.
Check out The Tomorrow War on Prime Video or Amazon MGM+ in America, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of Pratt’s future projects.
